Melinta is experiencing a rapid growth and transformation, in the past few months the firm has acquired significant new business via merger and acquisition, has become a publicly traded company and grown into a leader in its specialty. It is essential to the long-term success of the firm, that core infrastructure adapts rapidly to support the business model and as such a major investment in being made into the Accounting and Finance areas of the company. As a direct result of this investment, an opportunity now exists for a Senior Financial Analyst to join the Financial Operations team at Melinta.

The Senior Financial Analyst must possess the right blend of people and project management skills and ability necessary to perform key assigned tasks while simultaneously interacting effectively with internal clients from the Commercial divisions within the firm, and external vendors/partners. The role is a true business, finance and operations hybrid, where the individual in the role will play a key role in the financial health of the company by providing expertise in the areas of Cost of Goods (GOGs), inventory management, Accounts Receivable management, Month-End Reporting and being the interface between Finance and key commercial aspects of the firm.

The right person for the role will have a robust financial and accounting background, some business operations, exceptional written and verbal communication skills and a true passion for process improvement at the nexus of business and financial operations.

As the Senior Financial Analyst you will;

  • Manage day to day and month-end inventory, cost of sales and revenue recognition including gross to net accrual processes with internal and external business partners
  • Implement control processes to reconcile sales, accounts receivable and inventory data with third party logistics provider and contract manufacturing organizations
  • Monitor, analyze and report wholesaler channel inventories in supporting revenue recognition and reserve methodologies and helping drive business strategies
  • Manage month-end cost allocation and classification process
  • Develop systematic ways in capitalizing and rolling out cost of sales in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Calculate and accrue royalty expenses based on collaboration contracts
  • Develop inventory analysis reports in validating inventory costs and performing cost trending and manufacturing variances analysis with Technical Operations business partners
  • Prepare monthly inventory, cost of sales and revenue reports as part of monthly financial package to help track and measure key value drivers and Business KPIs
  • Lead the Excess & Obsolescence reviews with operations personnel
  • Prepare journal entries and GL reconciliations for inventory/COGS/revenue/accounts receivable as necessary
  • Assist with preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Serve as key business partner for members of the commercial and supply chain teams
  • Participate in all aspects of internal and external financial and operational audit
  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis to support the financials and other projects 
  • Ensure the financial integrity and robust corporate governance and compliance of all financial aspects for areas of responsibility

The critical capabilities you will need to demonstrate include;

  • At least 3 years of experience in a Financial Analyst, Financial Audit or Financial Operations role.
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of GAAP accounting principles
  • Microsoft Great Plains or similar systems experience is a plus.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects.
  • Strong communication skills, able to interact well with non-finance team members on financial topics.
  • Ability to generate ideas, develop alternatives, rapidly decide upon best course of action and drive implementation of that decision.
  • Demonstrated prior experience in the areas of inventory management and cost accounting, preferred.
  • Knowledge of Revenue Recognition process.
  • Budgeting and forecasting experience, preferred.
  • Prior Life Sciences experience strongly preferred.

In order to successfully perform these duties you will likely have following education and qualifications;

  • B.A. or B.S. degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA preferred
