Job Purpose: The Self-pay Collector generates revenue by monitoring and pursuing payment on all unpaid and delinquent
patient accounts in a timely manner; serving as a liaison between the Provider and Patient with regards to payment collections;
and maintaining daily and monthly productivity goals to maximize cash flow.

Essential Functions:
• Responsible for coordinating collections from patients regarding current and past due balances
• Assist setting patients up on payment plans to ensure maximum collection
• Call average of 50 to 100 patients per day based on supervisor requirements and accounts assigned
• Takes incoming calls from patients and center staff regarding account balances and statements
• Reviews outstanding patient accounts with precision to determine account balance when questions arise from coworkers/
other departments
• Provides clear and accurate documentation/notes of all contacts with any internal or external persons concerning
patient accounts
• Quickly becomes familiar with duties and performs them independently, accurately, efficiently, promptly, recognizing
their importance and relationship to patient care
• Review minimum of 5 patient credit accounts daily to determine if refund is due to patient based off insurance
explanation of benefits
• Researches returned patient mail for corrected addresses and updates in practice management system
• Regular attendance and punctuality.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Ensures that all processing and reporting deadlines are consistently achieved.
• Perform any other functions as required by management.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in healthcare billing environment
• Understanding of managed care contracts and fee schedules, including Medicare and Medicaid
• Experience with computerized billing software and interpreting Insurance explanation of benefits
• Working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and CPT coding

Preferred Skills:
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Familiar with Chemotherapy and Radiation Billing
