POSITION: Information Technology Purchasing Specialist (IT Category Manager)


POSITION OVERVIEW: This is an individual contributor role who is responsible for the sourcing of Information Technology related products and services. This person is responsible for leading cross-functional teams in identifying and selecting qualified vendors that offer the best overall value for the needed service or product. The successful candidate will be negotiating contract terms and conditions, as well as work hand-in-hand with the legal department to ensure there are mitigated risks associated with the contract. This person will also be monitoring and managing the performance of every vendor that is chosen, on an on-going basis. Experience in managing multi-million dollar products/services is a definite bonus.


POSITION DUTIES: 

  • Manage the contract life cycle of one or more critical and complex IT spend categories such as software, hardware, telecommunications and professional services
  • Develop and maintain expertise in the category being managed by analyzing trends and dynamics of the current market
  • Craft and implement pricing and contracts that align complex needs with legal requirements to achieve desired business outcomes
  • Work with key stakeholders to determine specific needs of the business
  • Facilitate cross-functional teams in developing sourcing strategy
  • Identify vendors with the capability to meet business requirements
  • Prepare RF(x) and lead teams in the source selection process
  • Manage and monitor vendor performance on an on-going basis
  • Other duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Oracle and/or MS Enterprise applications hands-on knowledge
  • Proven track record of negotiations tactics and strategies resulting in cost savings and risk avoidance
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and redline complex contract terms and conditions
  • Strong ability to communicate with business owners, legal, and other stakeholders
  • Relevant BA/BS degree or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • MBA, CPSM or other applicable education or certifications highly desirable
  • Strong MS Office Skills
