My client is seeking an experienced Controller for their multi-office Connecticut law firm.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • The Controller oversees the fiscal functions of the organization under accepted accounting principles and in line with the company’s goals, operating procedures, and culture
  • Participates as a strategic business partner in developing the firm's plans, goals, and programs
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performance
  • Analyzes trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to forecast and maintain expenditure controls
  • Provide timely and accurate budgets and financial reports to the CEO and other senior leaders
  • Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism to meet operating needs.
  • Prepare annual property tax returns
  • Provide strategic financial input on contracts, insurance, and investments
  • Optimize handling bank and business relationships and executing financial strategies
  • Manages, coaches, and evaluates the accounting support staff for continual improvement and effectiveness
  • Establishes credibility throughout the organization by collaborating with others as business partner in developing solutions to challenges

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES

  • Advanced degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA preferable
  • 10+ years of experience handling the above accountabilities in a mid-sized business
  • Demonstrates a balance of detailed, analytical skills with the ability to see the broad perspective
  • Balances working independently and collaborating with others.
  • Professional communication skills
  • Experience with 401(k) plan management
