Talent Orchard has been contracted by a top defense contractor in their search for a Senior Software Engineer to support the U.S. Air Force in the development of new methodologies and approaches for rapidly creating and delivering capabilities for their suite of applications that provide strategic deterrence planning, nuclear targeting, conventional kinetic and non-kinetic planning, collaborative planning and situational awareness. These new approaches will leverage agile development, and will include implementation of DevOps tools (CI/CD, automated testing, etc.) and identification and creation of containerized micro-services. This leading edge opportunity will pave the way for future development and maintenance activities at USSTRATCOM.

Responsibilities:

• Support the effort to establish an Agile framework such as SAFe
• Install and configure tools that enable DevOps, including a CI/CD toolchain and refactor and/or re-architect existing applications from a monolithic architecture transforming them using an event- driven architecture (EDA) design paradigm into a Microservices Architecture (MSA)
• Work with other developers, testers, cybersecurity engineers, the program office’s engineering team, USSTRATCOM’s engineering team and support contractors to pilot Agile DevOps for building, maintaining and operating the infrastructure.
• Perform development using Agile programming and DevOps methods to modify existing applications and develop new applications.
• Participate in daily scrums to promote frequent communication among the team and with all stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• BA/BS engineering or related IT, Software Engineering, or STEM degree
• Experience: Bachelor’s degree and nine (9) years or more of experience; Master’s degree and seven (7) years or more of experience; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more of experience
• 9+ years of experience in developing data intensive applications, preferably command and control applications
• 9+ years of experience with applications that involved managing large volumes of disparate data, including data virtualization and data federation
• 3+ years of experience with Agile development tools and methodologies
• Development expertise in Java
• Solid background with Agile scrum methods and tools
• Solid experience with DevOps methods and tools (e.g. Jenkins, Maven, ANT)
• Knowledge of Microservices
• Understanding of Software containers (e.g. RedHat OpenShift)
• Experience with RHEL
• Experience with VMware
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Clearance Requirement: 

• Minimum DoD Secret to start or higher

Desired Certifications:

• Scrum Master
• Redhat Openshift
