Corporate Collector
Primary Purpose:
This position is responsible for collection of aged receivables and determining credit risk, while bringing value to the corporation in the form of increased sales, profits, and cash flow. Works effectively with internal and external customers to address and resolve credit issues.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing aged accounts receivable and contacting customers to collect delinquent invoices and take appropriate action to resolve underlying issues.
- Document all credit and collection activity with detailed notes in the system(s) of record.
- Respond to customer and sales representative’s inquires related to accounts receivable balances and invoices.
- Assess credit risk for customers based on company credit policy.
- Evaluate customer’s payment history and exercise judgment in applying the company credit policy for credit holds and prepayment requirements.
- Reviews and takes the necessary action to resolve shipments on review due to due to delinquency or credit issues.
- Ability to address terms and credit limit issues at a management level with external and internal customers. Method of communication is dictated by the situation.
- Uses problem solving skills to identify the reason for customer non-payment and ascertain the solution.
- Involves the Director of Credit on items exceeding their authority level per written guidelines for review and approval. (ie. Releasing shipments if account is past due, terms issues, etc.)
- Communicates with Customer Service, Documentation Specialists, Transportation Consultants, and VP of Sales to elicit involvement to resolve billing/terms/payment issues.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:
- Well versed on system capabilities.
- Strong problem solving and analytical abilities
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret various credit reports and financial statements.
- Ability to work independently within corporate policies & procedures and established guidelines.
- Basic knowledge of accounting
- Data entry/10 key by touch
- Ability to type 40 words a minute
- Excellent oral/written communication
Education/Training
- 3 to 4 years plus work experience and 2 plus years direct commercial credit experience
- Prefer completion of some NACM or College level accounting courses.
