Summary of Position:

Our client is looking for a Sr. Patient Outreach Specialist. The Sr. Patient Outreach Specialist will make and receive phone calls with the intent of promoting company services. They provide a high level of customer service and support to Medicaid health plan members. They rely on experience, training, and analytical skills to determine eligibility for government programs. Sr. Outreach Specialists handle confidential protected health information in their daily work.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Eligibility Screening

  • Makes outbound and receives inbound calls with the intent of promoting or selling company services
  • Interviews patients/members via phone to gather personal/sensitive information in order to determine eligibility for various government programs
  • Uses system to ensure appropriate questions are asked
  • Interpret and explains information such as eligibility requirements and application details
  • Uses probing questions to clarify eligibility data with patient or member
  • Compile, record, and evaluate personal and financial data in order to verify completeness and accuracy
  • Utilizes the computer system to accurately complete the screening for eligibility and disposition the account as required
  • Uses appropriate resources to support decision making
  • Completes brief case summary
  • Completes online application
  • Initiate procedures to refer patient/member to other agencies for assistance as appropriate
  • Monitors actions to ensure goals are met

Clerical

  • Dispositions accounts in a timely manner
  • Types and transmits correspondence as necessary
  • Prepares for and participates in all appropriate meetings
  • Performs miscellaneous administrative tasks as required

Knowledge

  • Able to navigate Windows-based screening system effectively
  • Understand customer service processing requirements
  • Place and receive calls via computer interface
  • Track/monitor/retrieve information on calls
  • Understands the management of call queues and has some experience in it
  • Basic Mathematics
  • In-depth knowledge of government programs and the eligibility requirements
  • Familiar with commonly used concepts, practices and procedures
  • Writing skills
