Principal Level Storage (SAN) Engineer

Talent Orchard has been retained by DEI as their outsourced recruiting organization to manage their hiring process and we are searching for a Principal Level Storage/SAN Engineer with an active TS/SCI Clearance for a new and exciting role at Fort Belvoir, VA.  Our client specializes in modernizing information technology systems by re-engineering existing systems to harness the full power of emerging technologies and proven innovations to serve the business needs of their customers.

Role:

The Storage Engineer will lead the agency's IT storage operations team to install, support, maintain, and monitor IT Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure for reliability and uptime. The ideal candidate will have a proven SAN track record and will provide guidance and expertise to peer and senior leadership on all SAN related issues, designs, and deployments.

Responsibilities:

• Implement DoD mandated security configurations
• Install and maintain security patches
• Provision and allocate storage between storage arrays and server assets (Windows and Unix Based), assignment of RAID levels, LUN configurations, and file system creation
• Involved in the design, implementation, management and operational support of large complex storage and backup and recovery systems across three security domains
• Provide technical leadership for storage-related projects, including disk consolidations, preventive maintenance during regularly scheduled maintenance windows in accordance with internal change management processes and procedures

Required Qualifications:

• BA/BS and/or combination work experience
• 12 years of experience in Systems Engineering with emphasis on Storage
• US Citizen with Active TS/SCI Clearance
• Security+ Certification
• Proven understanding of Enterprise SAN storage solutions
• Experience with large-scale enterprise server and storage systems including SAN, NAS, switches, and other storage infrastructure.
• Ability to work effectively independently as well as within a team environment

• Brocade Fibre switching
• Excellent Communication skills in explain technical issues to peers, subordinates, and senior leadership
• Demonstrated a strong work ethic and ability and willingness to take on new challenges

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working within a VMware datacenter
• Understanding of Hitachi HCP, HDI, HUSVM
