POSITION:  Senior Tax Accountant-Long Term, Potential Interim to Hire

POSITION DUTIES: 

Essential Responsibilities

·         Prepare multi-entity federal consolidated tax returns for TAMS, TAMI, and Applied Superconetics (combined annual sales in excess of $550M).

·         Prepare combined and stand-alone state and local income tax return filings in 45 states and 5 cities.

·         Review and assimilate TAMS, TAMI, and Applied Superconetics’ financial information for federal and state tax filing including: analyzing financial information by account for Schedule M’s (accounting vs. federal tax differences) to arrive at the basis for tax returns. Prepare schedules for multi-state tax  returns including state modifications (federal vs. state differences), and state apportionment schedules (state percentage to be applied to overall taxable income).

·         Integrate/input information into tax filing system (Fasttax) for refinement and preparation.

·         Prepare quarterly estimated payment and extension calculations for federal and state filings (over 50 jurisdictions).

·         Prepare annual and semi-annual FASB 109 (Tax Provision) calculation.

·         Prepare annual updates and maintain the tax depreciation system for federal and state filings.

·         File annual reports in 50 states and miscellaneous other returns.

·         Assist in responding to Federal and State tax audits. Work with tax agencies and other Toshiba Companies to provide support and resolution for on-going IRS audits and various state tax issues.

·         Assist in internal planning/forecasting of tax payments for budgeting and cash flow purposes.

·         Assist in the development and computation of transfer price studies. Assist in the planning process of various foreign related issues and preparation of foreign reports including Form 5472. 

·         Assist in the development and implementation of tax planning opportunities. Assist in research and implementation of tax issues relating to company acquisitions, dispositions, and other inter-company activities.

·         Provide Federal and State tax law information to management by researching code section regulations, etc. to provide advice on technical tax ramification to the company.

·         Prepare tax projections and cost/benefit analysis schedules for carry forward items and make recommendations to maximize benefits utilization.

·         Provide tax research and identify planning opportunities on a continuous basis. Identify tax saving opportunities and seek to add value to the company. Monitor new tax legislation to determine impact to company.

·         Consult with other areas of the company on a variety of tax issues. Examples: legal, payroll, property, accounting, inventory, and employee benefits.

·         Various special projects as assigned.

 

Position Requisites

·         Five to seven years experience performing the above functions.

·         Four-year degree in accounting, finance or a related field (CPA a plus).

·         Experience in utilizing various tax software systems, preferably FAST TAX, and Best Depreciation System.

·         PC proficiency including MS office applications.

·         Strong tax compliance, tax research, and tax planning experience through solid understanding of tax law.

·         Ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external working relationships.

·         Good verbal and written communication skills.
