The Long Range and Land Development Divisions are seeking an undergraduate or graduate-level intern for the summer of 2017. The Division's main responsibility is the management and implementation of those county policies and regulations concerning the use of land and the planning for future roadways for all modes of travel. These include, among others, the Comprehensive Plan, Land Development Regulations, the Long Range Transportation Plan, and Concurrency.
The intern position will require knowledge of planning and planning concepts as well as ability to utilize personal computers and Division software. The tasks assigned will involve all phases of development review. The intern will be involved, among other things, in case research for zoning changes and comprehensive plan amendments, mapping, preparation for hearings, data entry, and general data collection and research for a variety of projects. Some training will be provided by staff.
We prefer students interested in planning careers and majoring in urban planning, geography, GIS, public administration, political science or another similarly related field.
The position is full-time, Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and is located in the Neil Combee Administration Building, located in Bartow, FL.
$12.00 to $15.00 hourly depending on experience
