Conexess is a full-service staffing firm offering contract, contract-to hire, and direct placements. We have a wide range of recruiting capabilities extending from help desk technicians to CIOs. We are also capable of offering project based work. 

Conexess is looking for a Lead Project Engineer for our client in Southfield, MI. In this critical role you will manage all aspects of assigned Information Technology projects. This position requires that the Project Manager has experience with reviewing project documentation and guiding others effectively by assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources as needed and developing schedules to ensure timely completion of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Management
    1. Experience in senior PMO role
    2. Establish PMO practice at firm level
      1. Determine appropriate role and responsibilities, gain active buy in from interested parties
      2. Create the protocols, and manage project communications, from core SME staff, such as developers and customer SMEs, to senior leadership.
    3. Leadership
      1. Run the Meetings, hold assignees accountable, set expectations, reassessment of critical path such that decision makers are equipped with sufficient information to manage tradeoffs to meet business expectations
      2. Change Management, familiar with the typical resistance points from vested interests
    4. Managing a PMO team of support staff
      1. Ensure accurate and timely updates to the PMO information base [Tasks with Start/End/Assignee, Risks Log (with mitigation tracking), Gantt chart (with Critical Path reporting and analysis)]
      2. Ensure project meetings have timely minutes for non-participants, documenting relevant discussion points rationale for decisions
      3. Maintain documentation historical perspectives on risks, issues, responsibilities – needed to quickly resolve ‘settled’ questions.

 

  1. Technical
    1. Must be thoroughly grounded in system development concepts with an understanding of the appropriate effort for typical implementation tasks
    2. Experience as a technical person, management of technical staff is preferred
    3. Preferred experience in configuration of Oracle HCM
      1. Typical challenges of an HR community in a global setting
      2. Able to provide comparative analysis and implementation with relevant experiences – are we over/under focusing on various aspects of the implementation?
      3. Experience specific to Core HR module greatly preferred

 

  1. Professional Services
    1. Staffing as a key component of professional services, from recruiting, hiring, onboarding, through to off boarding and post-employment relationship management
    2. Must understand the distributed management structure, specifically the decision-making process, various interests across the firm

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum 5 years in senior PMO role, 8 years’ total experience
  • Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal
  • Must have the personal presence to lead meetings in challenging situations
  • Candid, professional demeanor - dispassionate, accurate and direct in personality
  • Be willing and able to speak unwelcomed facts to leadership
    • deliver ‘bad news’ in a timely, effective manner to allow mitigation
    • provide clear options, costs and benefit tradeoffs
