Job Description:

Conexess is looking for an experienced Teradata DBA that will leverage knowledge of Teradata and will work with Teradata vendor support organization to resolve Software and Hardware issues and to plan patching, updates and major system upgrades. 

Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree plus minimum of 5 years Teradata DBA experience supporting large DB/DW environments
• Experience in day-to-day administration of Teradata environment
• Experience with large-scale database projects; data repositories, large-scale data integration, connectivity with reporting, BI and analytics tools
• Demonstrated knowledge of data architecture, DB logical and physical design, warehousing, modeling and governance practices
• Experience using Teradata
• Optimizer
• Tools and Utilities (Fastload, MultiLoad, FastExport , TPT, BTEQ)
• TASM / Workload Management
• Viewpoint, PDCR and DBQL
• BAR environments utilizing TARA, job scheduler and Netbackup
• Experience with Unix shell scripting and tools
• Self-starter with a strong proactive work ethic
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
• Experience in fast-paced environment where multi-tasking is essential
• Ability to compromise and work with others internally and externally in order to deliver results and achieve set goal

 Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with large automotive and/or retail businesses
• Teradata Certified Master
• Experience in Oracle SQL/ETL and sqlplus
• Experience with StarTeam SCM tool
• Experience with SAS on Teradata
• Familiarity with SAP Hana useful to support a future feed from Teradata to HANA

Responsibilities 

• Installation and configuration of database software, database patching and updates
• Teradata (TD) infrastructure administration including storage capacity management
• Database monitoring and resource allocation
• TD system tuning
• Database refresh/cloning and recovery procedures
• Provide inputs for operational budgets and major upgrades for the TD systems
• Design and execution of TD infrastructure projects
• Formulation of procedures and best practices for TD systems administration
• Maintain data models, and a data dictionary, for the TD environment
• Provide assistance (DB design, SQL optimization, testing) for TD development project
• Assist with TD operational support, including performance tuning, clean-up after batch failures, investigation of reported issues, supporting Tactical queries in a time sensitive environment
• Change documentation
• Production of metrics for TD systems, as requested
• Guidance and technical training for TD development teammates and operational support personnel
• Ticket resolution and request fulfillment
• Produce high-quality project output to minimize rework or stabilization issues
• Perform other duties as assigned
