The Network Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day support of the local and wide area networks. The majority of the work assigned to the network engineer is task-related, providing operational support to the organization and its clients, while the remainder of the time serves for working on smaller project tasks and continuous education. The individual must be a proven self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks with very little supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first-level network triage and troubleshooting for all trouble tickets, escalating up to Engineering when appropriate
- Perform all required operational maintenance and troubleshooting of supported systems
- Troubleshoot, analyze and resolve faults in the operational network
- Proactively monitor network health with various monitoring tools
- Work with the Network Team to support business-critical projects and maintain high levels of service, supporting 30 core sites globally
- Maintain relationship with the Network Architect to ensure that network standards and deliverables are met
- Analyze, test, document, and support the global data technologies
- Participate in the post-implementation support of new network environments (new office location, existing office relocations and/or expansions, refresh of legacy environment, integration of acquisition company network)
- Work with vendors, corporate IT, and other technology groups to resolve problems
- Conduct routine hardware and software audits of all supported systems to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, procedures, and requirements
- Maintain proper change management documentation for all hardware and software modifications
- Report progress to supervisor, including the preparation of weekly status reports
- Ensure all IT equipment complies with industry and regulatory standards
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and license compliance
- Participate in weekly on-call rotation
- Participate in monthly maintenance windows
- Perform additional tasks as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
- CCNA (preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of experience
- Associates Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field is preferred; work experience and background will be considered in lieu of formal education
- Working knowledge of layer 2 concepts such as VLANs, trunking, spanning-tree, first hop redundancy protocols (HSRP, VRRP, GLBP), and port-channels
- Working knowledge of layer 3 concepts such as subnetting/IP addressing and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
- Working knowledge of Cisco routers – ISR G2, ISR 4K, and ASR series routers
- Working knowledge of Cisco Catalyst switches – 3650, 3850, 4500, 6500
- Working knowledge implementing and supporting DNS, DHCP, SNMP, TACACS/RADIUS, SYSLOG
- Working knowledge of Cisco and Meraki Enterprise Wireless Solutions – 5500/2500 Series WLC, 35xx/37xx Series access points, Meraki Dashboard and MR42 access points
- Experience with Cisco Nexus switches - 2K, 5K, 7K, 9K - a plus
- Experience with Cisco DMVPN is a plus
- Experience with Load Balancer technologies (F5 preferred) is a plus
- Experience with WAN Acceleration technologies is a plus
- Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting solutions - SolarWinds, Cisco Prime Infrastructure, and Wireshark is a plus
