Description

General: The Project Manager’s success has a significant impact on the firm’s overall success. The Project Manager is responsible for meeting the client’s expectations and for achieving project profitability. The Project Manager is responsible for managing multiple projects and programs using a resource matrix structure to maximize utilization and coordination. The Project Manager is responsible for the planning, execution, and monitoring and control of the scope, schedule and budget for all projects in his/her control. Final responsibility for the success of the project rests with the Project Manager.


Requirements: A Project Manager shall be a licensed architect or shall have a minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in architectural/construction fields. A Project Manager shall have technical ability along with strong managerial, people and business skills to successfully handle multiple projects with little or no assistance from the Architectural Studio Manager.


Responsibilities/Skills:
1. Create the Project Management Plan that includes detailed project requirements for the Work Breakdown Structure, resource requirements, roles and responsibilities, quality standards, information exchange and communication, as well as the schedule and budget.
2. Develop team matrix and effectively manage and plan team resources.
3. Hold project “kickoff” meetings with the project team.
4. Execute the project according to the Project Management Plan.
5. Gather work performance data to identify variances immediately and take corrective action as necessary.
6. Effectively manage the scope of work to the Work Breakdown Structure so that it minimizes rework and identifies out of scope work and is acceptable to the Client.
7. Effectively manage the project costs to the budget baseline, control costs and manage cost variances using Earned Value Measurement.
8. Effectively manage and measure progress to the schedule baseline and manage schedule variances.
9. Utilize a change management system that documents out-of-scope work and addresses and supports any Additional Services.
10. Resolve project, production, client and resource related issues.
11. Conduct periodic meetings with project team.
12. Report project status in writing to the Client, Executive Management, and the Functional Managers.
13. Work with Project Architects, Technical Managers and Sr. Project Coordinators to ensure quality control.
14. Handle all aspects of billings including weekly billing projections.
15. Assists in marketing/business development efforts. Write proposals and contracts.
16. Engage the Client, manage the Client’s expectations and build Client relationships.
17. Supervise, mentor, motivate personnel, and build team loyalty.
18. Conduct employee annual reviews.
19. Keep abreast of new laws and codes that may affect particular projects.
20. Integrate resources and coordinate architectural resources with the Functional Managers and consultants.
21. Assist the Manager of Project Management, Director of Architecture, and Architectural Studio Manager in the implementation of organizational process assets.
22. Additional duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS FOR ADVANCEMENT TO:
• Sr. Project Manager
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)) in the following areas:
 Demonstrate outstanding ability to successfully manage multiple projects/programs.
 Demonstrate consistent effectiveness in supervising, developing and motivating employees.
 Capable of successful marketing to expand department.
 Proven track record of client satisfaction.
 Understanding of the ramifications of client interaction, market trends, program changes for Cuhaci & Peterson’s business model.
 Must have proven success and thorough knowledge of contract writing and administration, consultant negotiation, resource management, client management and project accounting (invoicing and profitability), quality assurance and project closeout.
 Excellent communication and leadership skills.
 Set goal to become Certified – Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
 Must attend two accredited seminars in order to qualify for certification acceptance.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time, able to handle stressful situations and multi-tasking, able to work under time constraints, long hours may be required. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to handle stressful situations, multi-tasking, and working within reasonable time constraints to meet production schedules and budgets. Will work in normal office environment and may also be required to work outside of a normal office from time-to-time.
