Career Evolutions is searching for a Senior Cost Accountant for a fast-growing manufacturing company in Phoenix, AZ. Full-time, direct-hire opportunity with compensation up to $90,000.

Job Title: Senior Cost Accountant

Job Summary: You will provide support to the Operations Manager at the Phoenix location and the Chief Financial Officer, and be responsible for preparation of financial statements, standard costs, variance and capital expenditure analysis, budgeting and cost control.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participate, oversee, and audit the primary functions of the finance area including month end close, year-end audits, preparation of the business plan, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and analysis.
  • Provide general ledger administration, tax administration, planning, and audits.
  • Monitor payroll, sales and use taxes, to compliance standards.
  • Monitor and recommend inventory control to ensure proper level of inventory items.
  • Monitor fixed assets control including reports on assets.
  • Perform and review capital budgeting, IRR calculations and the preparation of Capital Expenditure Requisitions.
  • Shop order analysis to insure timely closeout and reporting accuracy.
  • Standard cost maintenance and efficiency and usage variance analysis.
  • Prepare the budget and provide management team with budget variance analysis and reporting.
  • Drive cost reduction and cost containment initiatives.
  • Oversee the Accounts Payable invoice coding and review.
  • Perform sales plan variance analysis and make sure sell prices support run sizes and manufacturing cost at an acceptable profit margin.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • 3+ years of accounting experience in the manufacturing industry
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting standards including calculating cost of goods sold, variance analysis, inventory, pricing and sub assembly
  • Advanced Access and Excel skills (V-lookup, Pivot tables, Macros)
  • Experience with Sage FAS a plus
  • Strong attention to detail, high level of accuracy, strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team and excellent verbal and written communication skills
