Job Description

Conexess is seeking an Instructional Design Specialist (Adobe Captivate 8/9 developer) in the Allen/Plano/Frisco Texas area. This position will develop, create and write educational materials for adult learners using approved educational methodology. On occasion this position will also lead WebEx classroom settings.

The Instructional Design Specialist is responsible for supporting our learning strategies by developing training programs for customers and associates. Under moderate supervision, researches, designs, develops, schedules, and implements training projects. This person will collaborate with subject matter experts and coordinate with department team members to determine the information required to develop education materials which include eLearning, learner’s guides and operational procedures using blended learning solutions. Typically relies heavily on subject matter experts or existing materials for technical content.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Systems Design, Education, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • 12 months developer experience with Adobe Captivate 8/9
  • Able to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
  • Able to relate to customers and/or employees to ensure full understanding of company products. Able to convey information effectively in a training or learning environment.
  • Able to balance and prioritize multiple demands from various stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills.
  • Explain, discuss, and apply current instructional design theories, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Experience in banking industry in a plus.
  • Understanding of adult learning styles and how to meet those styles
  • Understanding of ADDIE education methodology (or prior use of System Life Cycle or Project Management Life Cycle methodology)
  • Business and technical writing experience for creating scripts (notes) for presentations, e-Learning and documentation for the Business End User
  • Experience leading WebEx based classrooms, including setup and scheduling, class management.
  • Demonstrated skills using the following technologies:  Microsoft Office suite  2010 or later including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Adobe Captivate (version8 or newer) – for producing interactive e-Learning modules (at least 1 year experience)
  • Experience creating & editing voiceovers using Captivate, Audacity or like tool; experience using SnagIt (version 10 or newer) or like tool for screen shots
  • LMS experience – as an active user

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Researches, designs, schedules, and implements training projects.
  • Assists employees in other departments with writing approach and technical issues.
  • Analyzes specific needs of education development projects. Collects and reviews technical specifications required of education projects.
  • Writes, designs, edits, and maintains documentation and training materials using multimedia technology and eLearning authoring tools.
  • Coordinates publication and dissemination of those materials.
  • Develops, evaluates, and designs instructionally sound appropriate educational materials according to department specifications.
  • Maintains education files and file hierarchy according to department specifications.
  • May conduct platform or training classes in a live or on-line virtual environment.
  • Collaborates and consults with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to collect, review and organize input for the development of training programs.
  • Utilizes instructional design protocol (ADDIE, ISD, or similar).
  • Applies adult learning theory and best practices in the design of learning objectives and content development.
  • Researches, recommends and implements changes to programs for continued improvement and effectiveness.
  • Maintains education files and file hierarchy according to department specifications.
  • Applies project management, communication and problem solving skills in the design of all training projects to meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Balances and prioritizes multiple demands from various stakeholders.
  • Enhances and improves the quality and caliber of work with each completed project through professional and personal development.
