Description

The Commissions Analyst is responsible for effective functioning of agent compensation processes. Facilitates commission account balancing and reconciliation as well as maintenance of commission schedules related to products authorized for distribution. Includes, but is not limited to, handling inquiries from agents and Home Office regarding contracting status and payment of commissions to agents and auditing commission statements. Responsible for licensing and contracting process that establishes agent's legal record with Company and state regulatory agencies as well as appropriate systems maintenance and communication

Responsibilities:

  • Review monthly agent debit balance reports and prepare a monthly analysis
  • Prepare and mail monthly debit balance collection letters
  • Coordinate debit balances with agent's production/balances in agent's home company
  • Administer commission and debit balance recoveries
  • Monitor commission error reports as assigned
  • Complete miscellaneous department compensation/reporting related projects
  • Assist with the tracking and reporting of manager subsidies
  • Assist the Agents Compensation Department staff with training, answering questions and resolving issues
  • Responsible for timely and accurate accounting and payment of agent commissions and applicable production bonuses
  • Field agent compensation inquiries from agents, including educating distribution on how to read commission statements
  • Research and rectify compensation discrepancies or inconsistencies
  • Prepare and input any journal entries for corrections
  • Facilitate manual advancement of commissions, if required, subject to approval of an Officer of the Licensing and Commissions Department
  • Preparation of Agent Compensation Schedules for agent distribution, subject to approval of an Officer of the Licensing and Commissions Department
  • Communicate debit balances to Compensation Collection and Reports Analyst for appropriate handling
  • Maintenance of Agent Commission Schedules archive
  • Special projects as assigned
  • Complies with all guidelines established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) and guidelines set forth by other regulatory agencies, where applicable, and defined in the Universal American Corporate and department policies.
  • And all other duties assigned by the manager and/or supervisor

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum of 2 years of Insurance industry experience in a Finance or Accounting environment preferred
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient PC skills, emphasis on MS Access and MS Excel as well as be able to use a 10 key calculator
  • Basic accounting skills (credits/debits)
  • Data entry accuracy
  • Analytical Thinking
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
