Job Summary:
The nurse epidemiologist functions as a nurse leader that implement, manage, and coordinate the Infection Surveillance, Prevention, and Control program to meet The Joint Commission, national, state, and local health care requirements. Collects, analyzes, interprets and formats surveillance data. Individual provides technical assistance, statistical analysis, grant writing, research, and advocacy for all aspects of the Infection Control Program. Identifies priorities for disease transmission prevention and develops initiatives to improve the health of patients.
Requirements Desired
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, DNP, or PhD preferred o Current RN Licensure or work permits in Kentucky.
Minimum five years current nursing experience and critical care experience required.
APIC certified or completion of APIC Training course in Infection Control upon employment and attainment of certification as soon as eligibility criteria are met.
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and concepts of disease.
Knowledge of research program resources, protocols, and procedures.
Knowledge of epidemiological principles, research, and findings.
Knowledge of effective presentation and public speaking skills and ability to present technical data at multiple levels.
Knowledge of applicable computer system software programs.
High level of expertise with data management.
Comfort level with research and strong performance improvement skills
Schedule: 40hr/week, standard business hours
