Western Technologies Inc. has an excellent opportunity in our Las Vegas office for a Civil Geotechnical / Materials / Environmental Engineer. Ideal candidate will have passed the fundamentals of engineering exam (EIT or recent P.E. preferred) and have interest in geotechnical, environmental engineering, construction materials testing and inspection or a minimum of four years related work experience. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background/interest in geotechnical design, environmental site assessments, and/or construction materials testing and will perform duties including but not limited to the following:
• Assist in analysis of soil to determine engineering characteristics
• Review engineering plans
• Inspect development sites
• Collect and oversee soil sampling using borings and test pits
• Perform and oversee laboratory tests
• Assist in making recommendations regarding foundation design, soil bearing pressure, slope stability and lateral earth pressures
• Assist in preparing cost proposals
• Assist in writing geotechnical evaluation reports
• Assist in marketing and follow up with Clients

Skills and Requirements – minimum qualifications for the position include:
• Civil Engineer (EIT or recent P.E. preferred) or a minimum of four years work experience in geotechnical, environmental and/or construction materials testing and inspection
• Field experience with exploration methods
• Phase I and II
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
• Excellent written and communication skills

This position requires some overnight travel throughout the southwest. Must have a clean motor vehicle record and pass a pre-employment drug test.
