Senior Director of Facilities

The Senior Director of Facilities will be accountable for safe and reliable operation of all the greenhouse facilities. This role will lead and motivate a team of Facility Managers, Maintenance Technicians, and contract vendors to plan and complete preventative maintenance, unscheduled repairs, and support annual capital improvements.  

Location: Remote position that can be located in the Mid-West or East Coast

Job Responsibilities:
  • Instill a culture that priorities personnel and food safety
  • Lead development of facilities organization; capitalize on what has been created
  • Establish technical performance standards for site level facility team members
  • Accountable for development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs
  • Oversee creation, implementation and management of the CMMS tracking program including analysis and reporting
  • Provide direction, development and coaching for facility maintenance team
  • Conduct regular service review meeting with facilities
  • Lead a culture that is focused on CI in areas of employee engagement
  • Collaborate with Development, Engineering, and Construction to ensure consistency, and identify areas of potential efficiencies
  • Accountable for all facility systems and equipment
  • Assist with preparation of annual operating budgets
Required Skills/Qualifications:  
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or similar technical degree required
  • 15+ years of experience in facility management with direct management experience of greenhouse facilities and/or food production facilities preferred
  • Experience in managing multiple food processing, manufacturing or operational facilities
  • Advanced people management and leadership skills with proven ability to influence across all levels of the business
  • Excellent KPI creation, analysis, and reporting skills and experience
  • Demonstrated accountability for personnel and food safety performance
  • General understanding of safe work environments
  • Knowledge of applicable OSHA, NEC, and NFPA codes and food safety standards
  • Extensive management of CMMS programs including preventative and predictive maintenance improvements
  • Ability to think out of the box and bring creative, innovative solutions to the table
  • Past experience demonstrating leadership in driving CI projects
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work remotely about 70% of the time and travel to greenhouses about 30% of the time
