Job Functions or Duties Required:
Mechanical design of special machinery for precision industries such as automotive, off highway powertrain, or aerospace propulsion. Must be able to apply engineering principals and formulas to designs and be able to explain and justify design decisions using engineering data. Participation in team meetings to identify requirements, specifications timelines and customer expectations. Specifying and sizing mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment required for each application. Collaboration with mechanical build team as systems are built.

Skills, Experience and/or Education Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 – 5 years of mechanical design experience
  • Strong GD&T skills required
  • Experience utilizing SolidWorks and Solid Works FEA simulation, other 3D packages may be acceptable, this should include:
  • Concepting and modelling automation machines
  • Design and detailing of automation machines
  • Design and detailing associated fixtures and tooling
  • Leading a group of designers on how to design machines
  • Experience designing high speed, high torque, rotating equipment, splines, gears and related machines for laboratory and/or production equipment is required
  • Must have appropriate flexibility, sense of urgency, motivation and versatility to make a substantial contribution to the team’s success
  • Solid PC skills with MS Word and MS Excel
  • Proven team player
  • Willingness to go “above and beyond”
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
