Regulatory Compliance Specialist

Summary:

This role will join a growing national team in the dairy industry! The Regulatory Compliance Specialist will provide guidance on compliance & regulatory issues. This role will also be responsible for reviewing and approving labeling elements in regards to ingredients, allergens and claims for FDA and USDA. Please apply if interested!

Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Ensure ingredients, formulas, labels & labeling are continuously updated
  • Ensure FDA compliance of product nutritional & ingredient information, allergen, net weight statements, advertising claims and standards of identity
  • Review all packing for compliance with applicable regulations & guidelines
  • Assist in renewing & obtaining national certifications
  • Assist with the review of product claims
  • Assist with validation and relevance of claims when formulations are modified
  • Provide regulatory guidance and participate in and collaborate with cross functional teams
  • Review and assist with improvement and development of regulatory and compliance processes, procedures and training
  • Develop & maintain correct food labeling information for finished products compliant with FDA and USDA regulations
  • Maintain records for auditing purposes
  • Drive completion and manage several projects at one time

 

Required Skills/Qualifications (including but not limited to):

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field – Food Science/Nutrition
  • Strong understanding of FDA food labeling regulations & documentation requirements within the food industry
  • 2+ years’ experience with the dairy & organic food regulatory experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of food product development
  • Knowledge of Food Safety and Quality
  • Able to identify and analyze regulatory issues
  • Effective and sound communication skills
  • Able to manage several projects at one time to completion
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Must have initiative, be able to work independently and exercise good judgement
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Passionate about continuous improvement, company mission and values
  • Proficient with Microsoft programs and Adobe Acrobat
  • Knowledge of nutritional development software is a plus
