Part Time Cashier

Bay Area, Baytown, and Lake Jackson Floating Positions  

We have an excellent part time opportunity for an after school/part time position for a dedicated individual to be responsible for performing Girl Scout Shop functions including inventory control system and receipt of all monies in the shop according to established audit procedures. This position requires flexibility to work extended days and/or weekends and also driving standard equipped vehicle as needed.  Those selected for these positions will serve as part-time cashiers serving the Bay Area, Baytown, and Lake Jackson Girl Scout Shops as needed.

Responsibilities for this position:   

• Maintain inventory in amounts responsive to needs of volunteers and staff in consultation with supervisor.
• Prepare orders, receive and merchandise all materials sold by Council Girl Scouts Shop and monitors returns of defective or overstocked items.
• Handle mail order requests ensuring prompt responses.
• Keep assigned records current (i.e. book transfers, consignments, etc).
• Assist in training new shop staff.
• Monitor outstanding debts and consignments.
• Maintain all sales and storage areas in an orderly manner.
• Maintain good working relationships with GSUSA/NES and other suppliers.
• Record monies received at Girl Scout Shop including distribution and/or filing of documentation in compliance with audit requirements.
• Complete other work-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

This motivated team player will possess the following experience, abilities and skills:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training.
• Knowledge of Girl Scouts program
• Proficient with computer and Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Outlook, and Word)
• Experience with typical retail equipment (point-of-sale scanners, electronic cash register, retail displays and tools) and typical office equipment (i.e. fax machine, 10-key calculator, telephone, printer, copier, etc), moving carts and ladders.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Outgoing, energetic and have an enthusiastic personality
• Able to work on a team and share Girl Scouting experiences
• Reliable and dependable
• Ability to travel as needed between shops in support of the Girl Scout Shops in Baytown and the Bay Area
