Senior System Administrator

OVERVIEW

The Senior System Administrator will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the network, servers, and related core applications. This position provides input into the overall network design, security, and implementation strategies as well as documenting all changes and updating network diagrams. Serves as second and third level support that the IT Help Desk cannot resolve.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the server operating system, file structure, security, and directory services.
  • Supports and maintains application server environment.
  • Installations operating systems, network application software, computer, or network hardware.
  • Responsible for software distribution and updates. 
  • Assists users to diagnose and solve data communication problems.
  • Sets up user accounts, regulating and monitoring file access to ensure confidentiality and proper use.
  • Designs and conducts hardware and software tests.
  • Performs data backups and disaster recovery operations.
  • Office O365 administration.
  • Supports scanners and printers as it relates to the warehouse management system.
  • Ensures new desktop configurations meet the needs of the user based on role.
  • Phone system administration
  • Intrusion protection.
  • Alarm system and camera administration.
  • Provide timely resolution of trouble and incident requests with other team members.
  • A/V support for conference rooms.
  • Monitor and test network performance.
  • Apple desktop support.
  • Work with team to improve/build processes and procedures.
  • Work with 3rd party hardware and software vendors as needed. 
  • Work in a team environment and support an international workforce. 

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in relevant technical field or 4 years of relevant industry experience preferred
  • Experience with systems across multiple departments is preferred
  • Previous experience as a network or systems administrator a plus
  • Industry certifications a plus
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Great Plains Dynamics preferred
  • Citrix experience a plus
  • Experience configuring / troubleshooting network switches, firewalls, and Wi-Fi equipment.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Information Security awareness a plus.
  • Strong technical IT skills
  • Basic working knowledge of application support, development tools, and methodologies
  • Deep experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Not afraid to suggest alternatives
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of staff to define business requirements and goals, and to identify and resolve issues

  • Knowledge and ability of needs, goals, deliverables, and interdependencies of other functional departments
  • Experience with systems across multiple departments is preferred
