KConnect is a network of public, private and independent organizations working to ensure that all children in Kent County have a clear path to economic prosperity through family, education, and community opportunities.  
 
We are seeking a Communications Manager to oversee the implementation of communications tactics designed to increase awareness of the organization, its mission, its brand and community engagement. We’re looking for someone with strong skills in writing, public relations and marketing to work with our small, highly collaborative team.  If you’re driven by supporting a collective impact initiative that ensures opportunity for economic prosperity for all children and families, this is the opportunity for you!  

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Establish contacts and relationships for regular distribution of news and updates to appropriate audiences within the KConnect network
  • Monitor and manage online presence and activity, to include current and compelling content, tactics for engagement, evaluation of online strategy
  • Develop and maintain relationships with press outlets specific to various areas and cultures within Kent County
  • Develop and maintain relationships with partners, colleagues, and consultancies outside of Kent County
  • Manage outside vendors (e.g., designers, social media consultant, communications agency)
  • Implement and execute high level of brand standards for all communications
  • Highlight and communicate KConnect accomplishments and impact

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree a plus
  • 5 years in Communications preferred
  • Action-oriented self-starter who works well independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent project management and time management skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial equity
  • Proven ability to produce clear and persuasive writing and presenting
  • Ability to initiate and maintain relationships with community-based organizations, education systems, and other partner organizations
  • Track record of successful experience in message development, digital communications, and media relations
  • Knowledge of education issues from early learning through post-secondary education
  • Experience in writing grants and/or evaluation documents
  • Experience in proposal and presentation development
