Theological Book Network (TBN) is a nonprofit corporation committed to providing theological resources for the formation of leaders called to serve the global church. TBN is passionate about shared learning and collaboration across the global kingdom of Christ.  We seek a new President/CEO who will bring strong academic and professional credentials in global higher education and publishing along with an established record of building relationships and networks across disciplines and interest groups. Founded in 2004, TBN is an educational nonprofit organization and has grown significantly in its programs and services.  TBN has partnered with over 1300 Christian theological schools in 88 countries, providing more than 2 million academic level theological books for the formation of clergy and the education of scholars in the global church. General Corporate Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, execution and monitoring of the strategic growth plan that effectively advances TBN’s unique mission and ensures growth objectives are met.
  • Establish appropriate annual and long term financial objectives and manage to achieve these goals consistently. 
  • Ensure that appropriate systems are maintained to protect assets, mitigate risks and maintain effective controls.
  • Assist in donor development activities, including professional networking, nurturing donors and overall fund development growth.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the fields of theological education, publishing and world Christianity.
  • Promote the distinctive characteristics and capabilities of TBN and its model of serving its theological partners.
  • Represent TBN to global theological institutions as well as professional and theological academic communities, including speaking engagements.
  • Produce predictable results through consistent execution of plans.
  • Attract, train, support, reward and retain highly skilled and high performing management professionals.
  • Work closely with the senior leadership team to develop strategies that address both current and future needs of TBN, including marketing, professional development, technology and facility planning.
  • Optimize the deployment of resources and prioritize strategies focused on achieving the greatest mission results.
  • Regularly coach and annually evaluate direct reports to maximize performance.

 

The President/CEO will possess the following

  • At least five years of demonstrated success in staff leadership, fundraising, partnership development and financial management, preferably within the non-profit sector.
  • Verifiable ability to manage top-level staff and the financial affairs of an organization (i.e., develop or enhance revenue sources); experience in developing and managing a budget of at least $1 - $3 million, and controlling expenditures to preserve financial stability and growth.
  • A broad understanding of theological education, particularly on a global level.
  • Ability to network with publishers and academic libraries.
  • Demonstrated success in leading organizational change and growth through effective strategic planning.
  • Personal qualities that include integrity, commitment to the mission of TBN, respect for diversity (particularly religious diversity), and strong ability to inspire and motivate
  • Commitment to the classic tenets of the Christian faith
  • Experience in successful application of creative and analytical problem solving skills.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills – inspiring, professional, and credible.
  • Supports the vision, mission and values of the TBN, leading by example to inspire and motivate colleagues and staff members. 
  • Ability to travel for events and meetings approximately 20% of the time.
