Systems / Network Engineer
As a Systems Engineer, you will have the ability and experience to handle design and implement firewall security, Local / Wide Area Networks, and Storage Solutions. We will rely on you to exhibit a high level of technical knowledge and ability to apply that to customer’s technical issues and problems, as well as possess the basic business acumen to understand the client’s business and align IT with their business goals. You will assist other technical staff members in resolving issues or developing technical solutions for company’s customers and effectively research and design technical solutions for customer opportunities. You will also design, install and support IT solutions for clients, maintain client uptime and improve their computing experiences through effective monitoring, maintenance and problem identification and resolution activities. You will be expected to maintain our positive reputation with existing clients through exceptional service delivery.
As a critical member of our team, you will provide onsite and remote desktop support to our clients who have critical response time requirements for their business technology systems. You will multi-task to support a variety of network and end-user environments, and you will interact with executives, business owners, managers and end users. You must demonstrate superior communication skills to respond to diverse clients with urgent needs while recognizing they are looking for solutions, not technical explanations. You will also perform service and preventative maintenance activities on products, and assist in installations and deliveries. Contributing to internal process improvement initiatives will be a result of this direct client contact.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Design, install, and support specific technology solutions for our clients.
  • Manage, maintain, troubleshoot and support our users’ networks, equipment, software, and other related services.
  • Identify user problems while working within a structured problem management and resolution process to remediate them.
  • Work with other internal and external resources and vendors to deliver effective support services.
  • Identify, document and troubleshoot users computing issues to resolution while maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize our ticketing system, remote management software, and other service-specific tools and technologies to deliver onsite and remote user support services.
  • Update service order information with accurate documentation of all activities conducted.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers that further enhance our positive reputation through exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain a professional and clean appearance.
Professional Development:
  • Participate in ongoing training and attainment of various manufacturer and software certifications.
  • Develop personal skills to work efficiently both individually and as a member of the Service Department.
  • Participate in company-sponsored job-related activities.
It is impossible to list all of the skills and qualifications that an individual will need to efficiently perform in this position, but we have listed general skills and qualifications that individuals should have or should be striving to achieve in order to be qualified for this position:
  • Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Technology, related field of study or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-6 years of experience working as a systems technician and systems engineer or related position.
  • Proficiency in supporting Windows 7 and 8.
  • Desktop software such as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Expert server configuration and support skills; understanding of Windows 2003, 2008 and 2012.
  • Advanced knowledge of Exchange, SQL and other Microsoft core network systems.
  • In-depth experience with virtualization technologies such as VMWare/VSphere or Hyper-V.
  • Microsoft and/or VMWare certifications a plus (not required)
  • Ability to manipulate and troubleshoot networks, internet connection issues, as well as be able to configure network devices such as routers, VLANs and working knowledge of all protocols used by current technologies and their cascading effects on all parts of any network, including MPLS.
  • Advanced desktop client and router VPN design, configuration and connectivity (Cisco, SonicWall, OpenVPN, IPSEC).
  • Ability to set up and troubleshoot VPN clients and network appliances.
  • Security software such as Anti-virus, Anti-SPAM, Anti-Spyware and other security related technologies.
  • Ability to analyze IP traffic patterns and use tools such as wireshark, ethereal, etc.
  • Experience with backup systems and Linux.
