Under the general direction of the Chief Information Officer, this position will be responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of all software applications including new systems selection design and system lifecycle planning for the company. This role is responsible for managing the day to day operations of business and clinical software applications; establish policies, procedures, standards and objectives for applications management. Responsible for software requirements and selection, design, configuration, implementation and maintenance. The position will work as an integral part of the IT Management team, providing input to key business direction. Identify and/or support the identification of IT strategies and applications that augment or support the business strategy, as well as responsible for developing and managing a business intelligence infrastructure for the company that includes dashboard reporting, data warehouse design, daily decision support and operation reporting across all lines of service. Responsible and accountable for project success and ensuring that project milestones are delivered with quality on time and within targeted budgets, meeting or exceeding customer expectations. The position ensures that IT is utilized in a strategic manner in concert with appropriate cost and risk boundaries set for the business.
SCOPE AND COMPLEXITY:
Information normally available when solving problems and making decisions in this position can be incomplete and additional information is often difficult to find; determining and gathering appropriate information may require significant research. The method of analysis normally required to solve problems in this position is to examine and analyze information in accordance with generally defined professional principles and practices. Typically, decisions made in this position could positively or negatively affect the entire hospital. Work is guided by policies, established strategies and plans; normally subject to senior management guidance and periodic review of goal achievement in relation to agreed upon strategies. This position analyzes budgetary data, verifies figures, and develops budget proposals; recommends allocation of budgetary funds.

1. Provides leadership and supervision to acquire, implement, enhance and support software applications. 2. Negotiates with vendors, coordinates services and develops/manages contracts. 3. Works with the Chief Information Officer, to develop annual departmental and individual goals and objectives that are consistent and compatible with the overall goals and objectives of the company. 4. Facilitates, develops and maintains policy, procedure, standards and best practices. 5. Motivates and develops assigned staff to continually grow in knowledge of clinical practices, business practices and workflow processes. 6. Builds and maintains effective working relationships within the department/unit, across department/units and functions, and external to the hospital.

A strong nursing or clinical background or proven experience managing financial and clinical application operations for a similarly sized organization is preferred. Requires a Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Business Management or related field; or an equivalent combination of training and progressively responsible experience that will result in the required specialized knowledge and abilities to perform the assigned work. Must have a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in Information Services management within a large acute care or hospital environment, preferably overseeing Epic systems. Certification in at least one Epic Application is required and must be kept up to date with application/system installed. Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification Preferred.
