The Role
As the Group Underwriter, you will evaluate risk of Group Protection products to determine pricing and plan designs, amendments, and/or renewals using established Underwriting guidelines. 
Analytical and Negotiation
  • Evaluates risk to determine pricing and plan designs, amendments, and/or renewals using established Underwriting guidelines
  • Prepares proposals, renewals and amendments by reviewing quote requests from brokers and marketing representatives
  • Negotiates benefits and pricing on non-experienced rated cases with brokers and representatives using established underwriting guidelines
  • Reviews sold policies, amendments and renewals to ensure minimal deviation from original requests to ensure adequate pricing and coverage
Internal Functional Coordination
  • Provides sales assistance information to brokers and marketing representatives by answering questions and requests, quoting rates and explaining underwriting products, policies and procedures
  • Works directly with Lincoln's Worksite Directors, enrollment team, and enrollment firms 
  • Works with Worksite Underwriting team and Distribution to develop cross sell opportunities. 
  • Exposure to other areas across GP
Customer Service
  • Communicates frequently by telephone and written correspondence with internal and external customers to clarify and resolve underwriting information
  • Maintains customer confidence by keeping all information confidential to protect company operations
  • Travels occasionally to customers' and Field offices to meet customer needs
  • Reviews and recommends changes to Underwriting guidelines and procedures for all lines of coverage. 
Undergraduate Degree of 4+ years if comparable work experience; educational concentration oin Business is preferred
3-5+ years of previous insurance or related experience
Strong attention to detail, highly organized and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations
Possesses a bias for action and avoids workplace distractions
Drives performance targets to completion
