Data Analyst


A Senior Data Analyst position is available in Jersey City to spearhead development of a new Capital Prime Services Clearance Custody and Settlement IT (CCS IT) Data Warehouse.


This role will focus on several streams of work covering a strategic Data Architecture initiative and build out of new Data Marts. The Data Architect will establish strong relationships and function as a partner with business teams and technology teams to own and execute the book of work in a manner that achieves the strategic end-state. 



Department Overview


Settlement IT group acts as a “business within a business” by providing critical services to both internal and external customers of the firm. The group focuses on Fixed Income and Equity Settlement across the glob..


Settlement IT will be undergoing a significant re-engineering to upgrade technologies utilized, interfaces and data models to establish an enterprise ODS and Data Warehouse (Data Architecture). This data platform will eventually support revenue opportunities for Collateral Management/Optimization and allow capture of efficiencies and savings in Operations Settlement Processing, Fails Management and Asset Services Processing



Main Functions


Analyze and define fundamental data structures that efficiently persist and expose datasets required to support the new CCS IT Data Warehouse.



Define specifications for all ETL processes including appropriate sources of data, data translation/transformation/mapping and enrichment rules. Insure implementation meets documented specifications.


Participate in establishing and facilitating a new Data Governance function bringing together appropriate stakeholders across IT and the Business. Assist in maintenance of a data dictionary and enforce fidelity of all data marts to the defined standard.


Work with end users to define all specifications for complete reportable datasets/views exposed to reporting tools for efficient data access required for high-volume reporting.


Work with architecture teams and the IMS IT group to design the future-state data platform including data models as appropriate to meet current and future business objectives


Define a daily reconciliation process between Data Warehouse and Source system and General Ledger


Define data exception and error handing processes, both for batch and real-time interfaces.


Person Requirements


Basic Qualifications


Advanced Computer Science or MIS Degree

5+ years hands-on data Analyst experience and relevant domain knowledge of Capital Markets products and the Prime Services/Prime Brokerage business.

5+ years of data warehouse experience.

5 + years team and or project leadership experience. Organized and good planner.

5 + years experience in Financial Services industry with Settlement knowledge

5 + years hands-on experience with programming, design and integration of mission-critical data warehouse and data distribution platforms.


3 + years experience working with Business Objects in designing end users views and reporting

Must be professent in SQL


Preferred Qualifications


Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to interact with users and senior management across all levels.

The candidate must be self-motivated, confident and mature. Must have strong analytical problem solving skills with the aptitude to learn as well as flexibility to adapt to change.

Understands and demonstrates best practices across all control process/procedures within Financial Services IT.

Good familiarity with related technologies including: SQL, stored procedures, Informatica ETL and Business Objects BI. Java skills considered a plus.

Strong knowledge of Equities, Credit and Futures products and associated operations processes

Experience with BPS and Boradridge Systems.
