Job Title Custom Course Manager

Description  Job Summary

Manage the US Operating Unit course customization process from standard products to managed programs.  Manage all consulting personnel involved in course development and maintenance (Custom Course Authors and others, as required).

Provide course curriculum research (software, hardware and market research) and guidance to the US Operating Unit. Provide course curriculum development guidance to minimize custom course development and execution costs.

Act as liaison between sales managers, custom course authors and Product Development managers.

Responsibilities:
  • Understanding the business needs of both internal and external clients.
  • Developing, executing and managing all course customization project plans in a timely and cost-efficient manner from standard products to managed programs
  • Providing curriculum research and logistics guidance with Sales, proposed course author and other parties as necessary
  • Assisting sales and operating unit personnel to ensure correct course and implementation information for on-going support of custom titles
  • Reviewing base course revisions and managing custom course revisions to ensure quality deliverables
  • Assuring the receipt of customer approval on the custom course outline
  • Coordinating customized changes for managed programs
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with sales, custom authors and other course development personnel
  • Assisting in the development and refinement of process and procedures needed to support  new/ non-standard client/project course customization (to meet the customer’s needs)
  • Generating custom course author fees and ensure custom authors are contracted and authorized to proceed upon receipt of the Confirmation letter
  • Determining (when applicable) and forwarding appropriate hardware and software to course author to support custom course loads
  • Maintaining and managing equipment loans and returns
  • Interfacing with appropriate Product Development Manager to ensure Learning Tree is fully licensed for all software products used on the customization
  • Managing all deliverables from customization project plans, ensuring all deadlines are met
  • Providing customization reports to Management
  • Interfacing with Publications and ensuring that customization materials are submitted by the custom author according to schedule
  • Interfacing with the PD Lab and ensuring that any custom course load materials are submitted by the custom author according to schedule
  • Interfacing with the Product Development Lab Manager and Technicians for appropriate technical matters
  • Communicating course release and implementation information via accurate and timely Course Materials Lists and Newsfaxes
  • Maintaining all Lotus Notes Custom Course databases and the custom course title database in CRATE
  • Maintaining accuracy of course royalty information including resolution of custom course royalty exception reports
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications and Skills:
  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Education, ISD, or other appropriate discipline
  • Three or more years in a project management position demonstrating the ability to work independently and set priorities while managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Substantial experience with office automation tools (i.e., word processing, database and spreadsheet software)
  • Knowledge of the principles, theories, concepts and practices of curriculum development
  • Strong decision making and problem solving capabilities
  • Ability to mentor staff
  • Highly collaborative; strong team player
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and time-management skills
  • Experience in a sales environment is helpful
