Operations Manager
The Operations Manager oversees the day to day activities of the finance team and ensures the company's finance function is organized and efficient and produces accurate financial and management accounts. The Operations Manager maximizes return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems. This individual supervises, directs and coordinates the operations of the Finance Department in an efficient manner that results in outstanding customer service and achieves the company's mission and goals. The Operations Manager's job also includes establishing and accomplishing business objectives and managing a variety of general office activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures
  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls
  • Analyzes and monitors internal processes
  • Oversees daily operations of the Cashier Office and the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Departments, for the accurate and timely processing of all transactions
  • Ensures security, integrity and confidentiality of data
  • Manages and supports the employee team and upholds cooperative policies
  • Schedules expenditures, analyzes variances, and initiates corrective actions
  • Administers and manages the company's business insurance policies
  • Develops and manages policy deployments in the areas of Lean Manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction waste reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls and plant performance measures
  • Ensures compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety and complete and on-time delivery
  • Improves materials management and the functions associated with inventory planning and control
  • Gathers all reporting needed through use of Power Analyzer and Power Enterprise to increase inventory turns and reduce levels on hand
  • Reduces the overhead cost associated with inventory management
  • Reviews operations and implements new technology and/or improvements
  • Implements procedures to ensure subordinate managers are effective in management of their individual sections and in order to achieve efficiency, economy and safety of operation
  • Develops and administers policies, procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the company
  • Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships
  • Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training and development
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or financial accounting
  • 7-10 years of progressive accounting, operations and supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems; familiarity with AS400 an asset
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
  • Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets and sales analysis experience
