Sr Manager Product Development
The Management role is responsible for achieving business results through the application of effective leadership and management processes and the work is guided by the Company’s management philosophy. The majority of incumbents’ time is spent on providing daily direction, coaching and oversight to direct and indirect reports.
Representative Role Responsibilities:
A Senior Manager is primarily responsible for communicating, planning, motivating and providing direction and leadership to one or more work units within their division that provides tactical execution and implementation of operational plans. Incumbents primarily manage exempt personnel who have teams of lower-level exempt and non-exempt personnel under them. The management direction, typically provided by a Director or above, establishes incumbents’ expected results. Example job duties may include:
•Manage work to produce customer value by planning and forecasting, setting objectives and priorities, establishing goals, clarifying accountabilities, assigning work and utilizing management and financial controls.

Role Minimum Certification, Education, Licensure and Work Experience Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
•6+ years of related work experience
•3+ years of direct management experience
•Lead teams and oversees initiatives that have high enterprise impacts to risk, growth and financial outcomes.
•Manage high volume work and ensure employee support to meet frequent, unforeseen deadlines and deliverables.
•Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Health Product lines, or comparable insurance related products, including supporting capabilities, services, care programs and retail capabilities to effectively develop new products.
•Assess and identify market segment requirements for current and future products through market research, and other channels of internal/external feedback and data
•Influence key stakeholders, including executive level through the front line operations, and gain acceptance of ideas and suggestions.
•Manage multiple projects, including scope, requirements development and project plans and resolve all issues to ensure successful deliver of the project per plan and budget.
•Maintain deep relationships and provide consultative product/ capability support to internal and external partners (include Marketing, Delivery System, IT and Sales leadership).
•Serve as SME for PPACA (Health Care Reform) requirements, rules and implications and makes recommendation related to Product direction resulting from regulations with an understanding of pricing and competitiveness for market segments
•Understand strategic direction of the business unit and organization, and provide guidance to management based on subject matter expertise.
•Participate on and/or lead critical or complex initiatives and projects.
•Advise management on options, opportunities, risks, solutions, cost versus benefits and impacts on business processes, systems, employees, etc.
•Maintain frequent contact with internal and external business partners to obtain and share information for influencing decisions, selling concepts, and/or providing advice and counsel that impacts business decisions and objectives.
•Lead the design and development of complex tools, systems, processes, programs, etc. that directly impact business decisions and objectives.
•Develop and maintain cross functional business partner relationships to develop, implement and support effective product development process and outcomes and go to market plans.
•Lead major development initiatives targeted at enhancing the Product/ Capability portfolio, including Conceptual Design, Detailed Design, Build and Launch of new products/ capabilities.
•Launch activities for new products and capabilities and the transition of those capabilities to Product Management and others.
•Development of performance metrics to assess products released to market and initial product performance in the market for the Individual, Small Group, Large Group and Pharmacy segments
Required Job Competencies:
Job Minimum Certification, Education, Licensure and Work Experience Requirements:
•6+ years of related work experience
•3+ years of direct management experience with teams, that may have high level of travel, working remotely, and/or delivering critical information to info to key stakeholders
•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Product Development, Management or related leadership functions within health/insurance industry
•6 or more years Health/Insurance Industry or related experience, including 3 or more years’ management experience
•Proven success in high volume, complex work and teams with frequent, unforeseen deadlines and deliverables.
•Technical knowledge of PPACA, State & Federal Health Plan laws / statutes
•Demonstrated knowledge of health products and supporting capabilities, including pricing
•Experience building successful collaborative business relationships
•Demonstrated knowledge of the product/ capability lifecycle and development process
•Demonstrated knowledge of capability research, development and deployment
•Exceptional Planning, analytical, decision making, communication and project management skills
•Knowledge in financial and competitive analysis and strong computer skills
•Travel up to 15%
Job Preferred Certification, Education, Licensure and Work Experience:
•Strong knowledge of insurance industry compliance and regulatory requirements and processes (PPACA)
•Experience with insurance industry association, regulatory or audit work
•Deep knowledge of health and CDH products
•Knowledge of ancillary products
•Project Management certification
•Process development certification
