Job Title Payroll Administrator

Description Job Summary

Manage the payroll function for all US-based employees and instructors.

Specific responsibilities

  • Process payroll for multiple pay groups and states (exempt and non-exempt) each with different pay schedules utilizing ADP’s HR Benefits and PayExpert.
  • Create, update and maintain Employee Files including personnel, benefit, and payroll files.
  • Monitor Personnel postings including Labor Law Posters, Birthday and Anniversary listings and announcements.
  • Respond to employee inquiries on payroll and general personnel questions.
  • Ensure and monitor the most cost effective payroll processing methods are being used.
  • Utilizing the Lotus Notes Absence database, administer absence and PTO accruals for employees including monthly PTO Liability report.
  • Continuously develop process improvements to ensure the flow of paperwork is done efficiently and cost effectively.
  • Respond to inquiries from authorized third parties regarding prior employment verification, references, and unemployment inquiries.
  • Process wage garnishments from third party agencies.
  • Maintain and update employee information in the HRIS system (ADP HRB).
  • Prepare salary reports as needed using the ADP platform.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and skills

  • Minimum 3 years experience processing payroll for multiple states.
  • 2 + years experience processing payroll using ADP.   HRB/PayEx preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of general Human Resources practices including Wage and Hour Laws, and general Benefit Administration.
  • Strong Familiarity with Word and Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to take initiative, to be a self-starter, and to multi-task.
  • Comfortable with quantitative functions.
  • Capable of handling deadline pressures.
  • Able to adjust rapidly to changing priorities.
  • Professional demeanor to interface with employees and the public with diplomacy and tact.
  • Able to handle employee records and materials in a secure and confidential manner and ensure the privacy and confidentiality of all employee information.
  • Four year degree.
  • Knowledge of Canadian payroll practices is a plus.
  • Experience in converting switching vendors is a plus.
