Position Reports to:  SW Engineering Manager
Brief Description of Position:
The Software Engineering Team Manager is responsible for supervising and directing a team of software engineers (6-15 engineers).  The role of the software team is to design, develop, implement, verify, and validate new software functionality for precision tracking radars utilizing Agile/Waterfall hybrid processes. As a functional discipline supervisor, the Software Engineering Team Manager provides trained software development resources to cross-functional project teams, while maintaining cross-project process and technology reuse and consistency.  Under the direction of and in conjunction with the Software Engineering Manager, the Software Engineering Team Manager is responsible for staff selection, training, administration, and performance within a project matrixed organizational structure.  As an Agile leader, the Software Engineering Team Manageris responsible for release and iteration planning and tracking utilizing the team of developers reporting to them.

Duties / Responsibilities (in list form, if possible): 
1.    Provides training and career development for software engineering staff
2.    Recruits software development staff appropriate to corporate and development project needs
3.    Participates in development, implementation, and adherence  of software development processes
4.    Responsible for software team productivity annual staff performance evaluations
5.    Participates in project meetings and project staff allocation discussions
6.    Promotes technology reuse to minimize development cost
7.    Promotes positive team spirit and encourages open, honest communication
8.    Responsible for backlog Iteration planning to meet program/project needs
9.    Responsible for Tracking and ensuring key indicators (Velocity, Buffer Iterations, etc.) show  program/project needs are being met
10.   Facilitate Team Productivity by eliminating impediments
11.  Other duties as required

Travel:  Less than 15%

Required Skills Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent

Required Qualifications:
1. Minimum 10 years professional experience
2. Minimum of 3 years successful software development team leadership/management
3. Minimum of 5 years Agile development process experience
4. Minimum of 3 years Scrum Master/Iteration planning and tracking experience
5. Minimum 2 years hands-on C++ design and development of scientific or engineering applications
6. Object oriented design and development
7. Software quality and software process management
Optional Skills Preferred Qualifications:
1. Full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience
2. CMMI Level 3 or higher experience
3. Microsoft Visual Studio 2008, Visual C++
4. GUI, client/server, signal processing and/or communication interface development experience
5. Qt
6. C++ exceptions
7. CppUnit or other unit test framework
8. Radar imaging and/or tracking experience (SAR, ISAR), RF, electromagnetic
9. Multi-threaded real-time systems
10. Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
