Convention & Professional Development Coordinator


We are seeking an experienced marketing professional to help us grow our multiple services by providing exceptional customer service and communication skills to support the following areas:



  • Develop TBA annual convention budget and monitor revenue and expenses and periodically report status
  • Organize volunteer Convention Planning Committee meeting of area bankers
  • Plan program and invite/book speakers coordinated with Kathy Box
  • Work with Marketing Committee to develop marketing pieces and program
  • Negotiate or assist in negotiating all contracts related to convention including hotel/convention center, speakers, entertainment, tour and bus companies
  • Communicate with TBA Chair and Chair-Elect regarding their responsibilities and itineraries
  • Work with Executive Assistant to the President to manage the housing needs and requests of TBA Board, Past Presidents and VIPs
  • Coordinate the creation of the convention staging guide 
  • Assist banks and vendors with private functions
  • Plan social events and entertainment  including 50 year Banker Awards and Cornerstone Awards events, Board and Past President recognition, golf, spouse activities and Bank Pac functions
  • Assign staff and monitor effectiveness of each function
  • Oversee on-site production of convention, including meal functions, A/V, BEOs, staging, speaker logistics and transportation
  • Coordinate speaker requirements to include audio visual, housing and transportation needs


  • Work with PD department to review current publications and possibly add new titles
  • Ensure publications are produced in a timely manner, are marketed regularly and are priced correctly
  • Develop strong relationships with authors and communicate TBA’s expectations and needs
  • Conduct periodic surveys of state bankers associations, other associations and other publishing houses to determine what titles/topics are available
  • Monitor the success of Publications, in terms of meeting deadlines, budget and author relationships
  • Market and manage banker data entry questions for the salary survey; interface with Iowa Bankers Association
  • Prepare the annual budget for publications 


  • Plan, market and implement AIB educational programs to Texas banks, including AIB Online Courses, ABA eLearning Courses, correspondence and AIB on-site, instructor-led courses
  • Mastery of the back-office recordkeeping requirements for diploma, certification and continuing education credits
  • Adhere to the TBA budget in the areas of AIB educational products and programs and the TBA publication
  • Work with members to acquire diplomas and/or certificates
  • Work with ABA to obtain transcript information for bankers
  • Work with college bookstores to fulfill orders
  • Coordinate AIB marketing in Texas Banking magazine and Texas Bankers Weekly         
  • Prepare the annual budget for AIB


  • Negotiate marketing contract with online vendor
  • Create and implement appropriate online marketing strategies
  • Incorporate online training with other education products and services
  • Prepare annual budget for BankersEdge

PD Department Marketing:

  • Organize a monthly PD newsletter sent exclusively to HR & Training Directors with an emphasis on current programming for the month
  • Monitor monthly competition reports
  • Develop and run marketing lists for all programs and products
  • Coordinate all Professional Development marketing materials to be displayed at live programs
  • Update TBA website with current PD information 

Resource Sharing Groups:

  • Coordinate, schedule and market peer group meetings for various functional areas: HR and Training Huddles, CEO and Senior Lender Forums, IT Tech Talks and CFO Forums


  • High School diploma, some college preferred
  • Excellent customer service demeanor and skills
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills to serve a broad audience of internal and external customers
  • Superior meeting planning skills
  • Proficiency in writing required for correspondence and publications
  • Excellent computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Windows applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet
  • Graphics capability  andiMIS database knowledge preferred
  • Informz email marketing system management experience helpful
  • Detail orientation; ability and desire to produce consistently error-free work
  • Ability and initiative to plan, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work with other staff, as needed, to accomplish objectives and meet deadlines
  • Professional demeanor and appearance
