Description We are currently looking for a Senior Database Architect to support the development and implementation of a new Electronic Health Record system. Database architect will perform database design, development, test and deployment tasks for healthcare software applications.   The Senior Database Architect uses existing methods, tactics, and tools to implement database related tasks and drive the software life cycle. Responsibilities also include maintaining scripted source code and documentation to generate database schemas, data dictionaries and ER diagrams as well as performing ongoing maintenance and administration of the development and staging databases. 

Responsibilities:

  • The position will work in close collaboration with business and technology team members to build a new enterprise data model that reflects the current/future needs and capabilities.
  • In addition, the Data Architect will provide guidance to team members. The Data Architect must have data modeling skills, specifically in the area of multidimensional modeling.
  • Translates business requirements into logical and physical database models.
  • Applies methodologies and techniques for designing data integration, aggregation, standardization and validation in Enterprise-Level OLAP solutions.
  • Produce logical and physical data models, schemas, and data dictionaries
  • Collaborate with others to develop store procedures, indexes, user-defined functions and views to maximize query performance
  • Perform database-related performance and tuning tasks
  • Perform ongoing maintenance and administration of the development and staging databases
  • Perform database capacity planning
  • Support datacenter deployments
  • Produce the database-related contents of the following deployment and operations documentation: Deployment Plan, Installation Manual, Operations Manual, Disaster Recovery Plan

Required Skills Experience:
• 6 - 8 years of experience as data architect - healthcare experience required
• 6 – 8 years of experience in data modeling either logical or dimensional modeling
• The Senior Data Architect develops and implements the data architecture data modeling within the healthcare industry and possesses a good understanding of HL7 message structures.
• Deep understanding of database and data warehouse design concepts and In-depth working experience with data modeling tools.
• Candidate must have experience with different database management solutions (DBMS) such as Oracle, DB2, Sql Server, etc.
• Demonstrated experience gathering/analyzing data requirements, developing the data architecture design, developing the logical data models, implementing the physical data models, capturing metadata and implementation strategies and methods.
• Sound experience in ETL design and development, formal BI delivery methodologies, relational databases, Clinical systems such as (EMR)
• Experience with Big Data concepts, analytic tools (SAS, Micro Strategy, Business Objects etc), extract, transform and load (ETL) tools, data standardization e.g., medical vocabularies such as those from SNOMED, LOINC, and RxNorm
• Hands on experience indexing, partitioning and data design performance considerations for industry standard DBMS
• Understands the importance of maintaining the physical and technical security and privacy of protected health information (PHI).

Education:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience

Clearance:
• US Citizen and ability to obtain a clearance
