|Description||Duties and Responsibilities: The Georgia Department of Driver Services is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Driver Examiner 1. Under immediate supervision, the Driver Examiner 1 receives applications for and issues Georgia driver's licenses. This position verifies applicants' eligibility for driver’s licenses; administers and grades written examinations on traffic laws; and, administers road tests to rate applicants' driving ability. The Driver Examiner 1 processes reinstatement transactions according to prescribed guidelines and prepares reports to document workload activities and account for licenses issued and fees collected.
|Required Skills||• Must be eighteen (18) years of age
• Completion of a high school diploma or GED is required
• A valid Georgia Driver’s License
• Must pass a written examination
A written test is required. Test subject areas and number of questions are: Math (20); Reading and Comprehension (20); and Customer Service (20).
The test will be given on a “scheduled” basis at regional testing centers (i.e., selected applicants will be sent written notices providing date, time, and location of testing).
Applicants should bring their User ID (generated from the on-line resume creation) and a picture ID to the session.
|Optional Skills||Preferred Qualifications:
• At least one (1) year of Customer Service experience
• At least one (1) year of experience with cash transactions including handling cash, daily reconciliation, and processing credit card payments
• Computer proficiency (please list the software programs that you are proficient in)
Condition of Employment: A valid Georgia driver’s license is required and must be maintained while employed in this position. Non-Georgia residents must have a recognized equivalent license.
As a condition of employment, employees who are employed at a Customer Service Center which conducts CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) road tests must successfully complete the CDL Examiner Certification. This certification consists of a knowledge (written) test and a classroom test portion. Employees will be given three (3) attempts to successfully complete the knowledge portion of the testing and two attempts to successfully complete the classroom portion of the certification. Employees must meet this requirement to continue employment with DDS. Upon successful completion of the CDL Examiner Certification, employees who are employed at a Customer Service Center (CSC) which conducts CDL road tests must maintain certification to remain at the CSC.
DDS employees, in the event of an identified emergency, may be required, as a term and condition of employment, to assist in meeting the emergency responsibilities of the Department. In addition, in an emergency situation, they may be required to perform responsibilities that are not regularly assigned to them in order to continue the operations of the agency.
