Job Summary:

Family Gateway is a non-profit organization founded by Annette Strauss in 1985 which provides temporary housing for families in need.  We are currently in need of a Facilities Maintenance Technician to manage the day to day responsibilities related to our multiple facilities in the downtown Dallas area.  This position reports to the Operations/Facilities Assistant and is responsible for the general maintenance and upkeep of the Administrative Offices, The Center, and Gateway Apartments.
 

 

Job Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Perform daily inspections of the grounds (interior and exterior) to ensure all property is in good working condition and environmentally safe for tenants and employees
  • Responsible for the general maintenance and upkeep of all facilities and grounds
  • Responsible for room/apartment preparations prior to new resident move-in
  • Respond to daily maintenance work orders within 24 - 48 hours  
  • Prepare and inventory maintenance and cleaning supply lists for all locations and communicate to the Operations/Facilities Assistant at least twice monthly or as otherwise needed
  • Participate in rotational 24-hour on-call service for all properties
  • Other duties as requested by the Operations/Facilities Assistant for Family Gateway properties
 
 
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a valid Texas Drivers License, automobile insurance and reliable means of transportation between properties
  • Minimum of three years experience in commercial property maintenance
  • Must be able to lift objects with a maximum weight of 80-100 lbs. without assistance
  •  General knowledge of the following:
    • Plumbing
    • Fire extinguishers
    • Door locks
    • Smoke alarms
    • Home appliances
    • Electrical repair
    • Roofing
    • Lighting (interior and exterior)
    • HVAC (filter changes, minor repairs, overall maintenance, etc.)
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Alarm/Fire Protection systems
  • Commercial kitchen equipment
  • Knowledge of building and city codes
 
 

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED
