|Description||Mitsubishi Power Systems Americas, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, LTD (Japan). MPS provides a full spectrum of power generation solutions from equipment sales to onsite service. Headquartered in Lake Mary, Florida, backed by multiple U.S. Manufacturing, Service and Repair centers, MPS is chartered to support market development, sales, contracts, engineering, implementation and field service for power projects throughout the Americas – including gas, steam and combined-cycle power plants, wind and geothermal installations, as well as Combined Heat & Power Plant systems. We have an immediate need for the below position in our Lake Mary FL headquarters location.
Primary responsibilities involve drafting/reviewing and negotiating equipment purchase agreements, long term service agreements, and EPC agreements related to fossil fuel and renewable energy power generating facilities. Duties and responsibilities will also include post-contract award support, other commercial transaction support, legal advice regarding claims and dispute resolution process, litigation management and support, rendering of opinions for operations personnel, corporate governance issues and interaction with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Daily duties will include review of contemplated engineering, procurement and construction agreements, equipment purchase agreements, and other types of agreements relating to the power generation industry involving MPSA for recommending and/or negotiating changes. Support and participate in contract negotiations as required to mitigate risks assumed by the company. Complete special projects and tasks, and provide prompt in-house legal advice to officers and employees of MPSA. Develop and recommend appropriate forms of contracts in the area of power generation projects consistent with the business needs. Interpret existing contracts and provide advice and recommendations for taking future course of action. Interpret laws and regulations affecting the activities of MPSA and avoid penalties and undue risk to the company. As required, provide legal advice and counsel for development, equity participation, financing, and leasing of power generation projects. Provide management of litigation services provided by outside legal counsel as needed and to advise senior management in any matter of controversy which may result in litigation, arbitration, ADR, or administrative action by any governmental agency.

• Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university; and at least 5 years demonstrated experience in practicing law in an OEM/EPC corporate environment.
• Certification/License: Licensed to practice law in any state.
