Job Summary

Provide overall leadership for on-site field administration and technical management for construction operations including direct supervision of foremen, trade/subcontractors and other construction-related personnel. Direct the planning, coordination and safe execution of field operations including demolition, excavation, foundation and building construction through turnover to the owner/developer. Ensure that work is performed on time and within budget, while attaining or exceeding profit goals.
In accordance with the Lend Lease Incident and Injury Free (IIF) Vision, this position is also responsible for role modeling safety leadership by demonstrating the IIF Vision in all aspects of their work as well as empowering the teams in which they lead for safety including holding them accountable for safe outcomes.


Essential Job Functions, Duties and Responsibilities

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities and skills required.


  • Ultimately responsible for Quality, Production, and Safety for the area of assigned construction.
  • Provide direction to trade persons and subcontractors by coordinating plans, specifications, and schedules to ensure quality and on-time completion of work
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce project site logistics and temporary facilities plans, as well as storm water run-off program.
  • Assist Preconstruction and project Construction Management team to develop an initial project schedule and communicate sequence and schedule updates to all subcontractors and vendors.
  • Actively participate in post-bid, buyout, Owner/Architect/Contractor, coordination, lead team, subcontractor, staff, scheduling and post-mortem meetings.
  • Develop, implement, maintain and enforce a project site specific safety program for staff and all subcontractors in accordance with Lend Lease IIF policy and our safety culture, OSHA requirements, local, state and federal law.
  • Knowledge of applicable OSHA requirements and manage OSHA site visits.
  • Develop, implement, maintain and enforce a project specific quality assurance and workmanship program to include all subcontractors and vendors.
  • Support and implement the company’s Project Success Planning processes.
  • Obtain and install standardized project signage from Corporate Marketing and other required identification material.
  • Participate with the project Construction Manager and General Superintendent in issuance of monthly progress report, monthly payment applications, anticipated cost report and other financial cost reports.
  • Perform and monitor all job site control reporting measures including daily reports, petty cash report, payroll, quantity reporting, accident and incident reports and timesheets.
  • Possess working knowledge of all project plans, specifications, contracts with Owner, subcontracts, purchase orders, daily correspondence, shop drawings, submittals, and all other project related documents, and maintain a complete and accurate set of as-builts.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and understands specifications.
  • Participate in the update the architectural/MEP/etc. drawings.
  • Review and provide feedback on all purchase orders and subcontracts.
  • Coordinate and manage all material deliveries, subcontracts and self perform work.
  • Perform a qualitative review of all contract documents for potential conflicts or interpretation issues to mitigate risk.
  • Ensure timely project completion through project scheduling, expediting of material deliveries and the management of material and document submittals/approvals.
  • Responsible for the layout and field engineering in accordance with all project requirements.
  • Ensure that all requirements of safety, labor relations and Equal Employment Opportunity are met.
  • Understand all trade contractor’s means and methods in accordance with project contract documents.
  • Manage the coordination of daily construction activities within existing operating facilities.
  • Review vendor payment applications and miscellaneous invoices.
  • Maintain a set of contract documents that contains all the current contract changes and clarifications.
  • Develop and execute a plan for monitoring and completing punch list items. Coordinate all required field inspections.
  • Understand local labor requirements, availability and capability for self perform work.
  • Provide technical assistance to all members of project team.
  • In the absence of an Assistant Superintendent being assigned to a project, the Superintendent assumes all the duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Superintendent.
  • Actively participates on internal teams, which focus on continuous improvement of the business.
  • Develop, mentor and encourage subordinates toward a successful career with the company.
  • Promote the growth and development of client, subcontractor and vendor relationships.
  • Maintain current certifications for First Aid and CPR.
  • Completion of OSHA Ten-Hour Safety Course.
  • General understanding of cost reporting systems
  • Understand the essential job functions, duties, and responsibilities of team members.
  • Understand the Guaranteed Scope of Work (GSOW) and the Design/Build (DB) agreement.
  • Familiar with all Policies and Processes as it relates to this position.

Working Conditions
 

  • Required to inspect the jobsite including climbing ladders, cluttered areas, working in bad weather, hazardous areas, using of Personal Protective Equipment, dark conditions, etc. to view the progress of construction.

GENERAL BACKGROUND AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
 Four-year degree in an accredited construction related curriculum, (BSCE, BSCM, BSAE, etc.) or experience equivalent to a four-year degree.
 Two to three years of experience as an Assistant Superintendent or five to seven years of construction related experience.
 Demonstrated competency in these areas: managing site activity, labor relations and union agreements, anticipating and resolving field related issues, establishing and enforcing site schedule requirements, managing site safety and insurance risks, interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate both written and oral, and leadership.
 At a minimum, competent with personal computer usage for communication purposes.
