Description Job Summary


Manage the research, development, maintenance and implementation of technical training courses within the designed product line. Manage all consulting personnel involved in course development and maintenance (Authors, Technical Editors and others, as required). Conduct market research as necessary to support the product line. Establish and maintain relationships with software and hardware vendors as needed to support the product line. Provide sales and operations support to the worldwide Operating Units.
 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities


  • Leading development teams through all aspects of the product’s life cycle.
  • Developing, executing and managing project plans for the development of new courses in a timely and cost efficient manner.
  • Managing all deliverables from project plans.
  • Hiring and managing course authors, technical editors, instructional designers and other course development consultants.
  • Conceive and develop innovative marketing campaigns and programs that position products to drive sales demand.
  • Interface with and guide marketing staff in the development and presentation of new design, copy and marketing solutions for local op unit “customers” to achieve marketing goals.
  • Negotiating and establishing relationships with vendors for course hardware and software.
  • Introducing new courses to the worldwide operating units and communicating the product and implementation information necessary to support the new product.
  • Developing and managing course revision schedules to ensure course content is up to date, running the latest software and hardware and meeting attendee expectations
  • Managing the budget for the product line.
  • Supervising the development and revision of course marketing materials to ensure alignment with course content.
  • Researching emerging technologies as they pertain to product lines and recommending new products for introduction.
  • Managing additional department projects as needed.
 
Qualifications and Skills


  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration or other appropriate discipline
  • Four or more years in a project or product management position demonstrating the ability to work independently and set priorities while managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience managing a product through its life cycle in a high volume sales environment
  • Experience working with computers, operating systems, networks, and/or software development methodologies and languages
  • Ability to lead a development team towards an end goal/product
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Substantial experience with Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
