JOB OVERVIEW:
The Team Leader, Data Center Operations assures the security, reliability, and performance for the physical / virtual server and storage environments. He/she works to address issues by leading a team of Data Center professionals and leveraging his/her personal technical expertise. The Team Leader maintains responsibility for ensuring consistent, repeatable and sustainable practices, procedures, and documentation related to the Data Center operations.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Develops and provides Data Center expertise, ensuring the maintenance of physical servers, virtual servers, operating system / application patching, messaging, backups, and monitoring
-Assist in the design and management of the Microsoft Exchange environment
-Backup the VMware administrator in the duties to administer the cluster and hosts
-Provide guidance and technical expertise in Disaster Recovery planning and design
-Support the administration of SAN and SAN connectivity
-Administer backups and diagnose backup errors
-Manage client agents for server monitoring (SCOM) as well as agents for server management (SCCM)
-Provide guidance for automated processes within the Microsoft Orchestrator environment
-Ensures that effective practices and procedures are created for the configuration of storage for optimum performance.
-Provides daily operations support and maintenance for enterprise servers
-Performs technical support and administration of enterprise applications
-Manages and maintains Operating System and application patches in compliance with vendor recommendations and security best practices
-Maintains corporate infrastructure security standards for all systems; ensures data and database security at server level; employs security hardening techniques, especially for Internet facing systems
-Regularly reviews system logs and OS behavior to proactively monitor systems and address issues accordingly
-Creates and maintains technical and detailed design documentation
-Works closely with application teams for day to day support issues, break/fix issues, and scheduled maintenance
-Manages Data Center vendor relationships, evaluating performance based on identified criteria
-Ensures practices and procedures are being followed by the Data Center Operations team
-Assigns and delegates tasks to team members as appropriate; defines roles and responsibilities for team members
-Coach and provide leadership, motivation and supervision of direct reports.
-Develop and grow IT team members–identify development needs, provide skill building opportunities for IT team.
-Works with team members to establish annual Performance Management Plan (PMP) goals and provides feedback throughout the performance cycle
-Encourages knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and best-practice sharing among team members

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Minimum of 5+ years' experience in a cross-functional role in a mid to large-sized corporate environment supporting the following technologies:
-Windows Server Operating Systems (2003, 2008, 2012)
-Microsoft Exchange (2010, 2013)
-VMware (5.5, 6)
-Enterprise Storage (SAN)
-Enterprise Backup (Netbackup, Veritas)

Minimum of 3+ years' experience:
-Leading a team with 5 or more technical professionals
-System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) – Windows OS patching, security and compliance
-System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) — Monitor Windows servers
-System Center Orchestrator - Automation
-Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity
-Networking concepts

Additional:
-Managing IT projects
-Demonstrated knowledge of Change Management frameworks such as ITIL
-Experience with defining and developing operational support standards for production systems and supported applications
-Demonstrated ability to automate business processes
-Ability to perform on-call duties and after-hours work as necessary
-Experience with developing and implementing in-house training processes to help deliver knowledge transfer to more junior personnel
-Demonstrated experience with data center cooling, power and UPS, fire suppression, cabling and racking

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
-Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a relevant field
