Our Client is seeking an Advanced Database Administrator.  This person will administer databases, with a primary focus on setup, configuration, monitoring, performance tuning, and developer support.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Maintains several database environments; applies updates, maintenance packs, patches, & fixes for all environments.
• Performs SQL Server upgrades.
• Maintains and manages database reporting infrastructure.  Participates in design.
• Monitors server performance and recommends changes as needed.
• Works closely with developers, support and QA teams to maintain all DB environments.
• Refreshes databases as needed by developers or functional teams.
• Performs database administration activities including; installation, configuration, monitoring, space management, database backup and recovery, and disaster recovery.
• May perform installation, configurations, and maintenance for clustered database servers.
• Performs database TSQL reviews and provides input to database design.
• Writes and reviews stored procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Three years of experience as a DBA
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Strong communication, writing, and editing skills
• Able to design databases according to industry standards and make tuning recommendations
• Able to write and optimize complex queries
• Advanced knowledge of database administration, Software development Life Sycle (SDLC), and systems analysis procedures
• Strong working knowledge of database software and operating systems

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree
• Five to seven years as a DBA
• Three or more years as a production DBA
• Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) a plus
