JOB SUMMARY
Performs project management and provides technical leadership in the technical implementation of Capital Projects from inception to construction completion, while working with various groups that contribute to the Capital Projects process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Works independently and may oversee other Project Engineers on all projects (including large and/or complex capital projects that may be of multi-year duration) providing financial, procurement, scheduling and coordination direction and data leading towards construction and commissioning of assigned projects.
  • Perform monthly reviews of project schedules and cash-flow projections for assigned projects.
  • Schedules and leads project team meetings for higher priority capital projects.
  • Works with leadership to balance workload of labor contractors; provides technical information to contractors; reviews design documents and specifications.
  • Schedules construction walk downs with Field Supervisor and Contractor to review work prior to performance.
  • Performs engineering evaluations for large, complex capital projects.
  • Develops high level commissioning sequences for testing and cut over of new or modified electrical substations and new or modified electrical transmission lines.
  • Completes tasks from other engineering groups, as necessary.
  • Provides technical guidance and may mentor the Engineers and Associate Engineers within group to develop and enhance their individual project and technical skill level.
  • Communicates issues with any/all levels of the company, as appropriate.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Electrical Engineering degree with power system coursework or Civil Engineering degree with geotechnical, structural or construction coursework preferred.
  • PMP Certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience with an electric utility company or related engineering/ construction experience in the high voltage electrical industry.
  • Possesses working knowledge of applicable codes and standards including National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
  • Possesses intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access) and a scheduling tool such as P6 or MS Project.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, documentation and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues and individuals inside and outside the Company.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
