Our Client is seeking a DB2 Mainframe DBA for a contract to hire position. Below are specific requirements needed for this role.

Role may be based in Allen, TX; Houston, TX or Seattle, WA (Allen, TX is the preferred location)

At least 5 years experience DB2 z/OS (version 10 preferably) with the following:

  • DB2 Performance Tuning Monitoring
  • Familiarity with Mainview
  • Support of DB2 Data Studio
  • Familiar with managing distributed applications using DB2 z/OS as a Data server
  • Experience supporting application Development, QA, building Development, QA database infrastructure
  • Experience with configuring and tuning distributed connections / DB2 CONNECT configuration
  • Familiarity with configuring DB2 to run as a Service Provider (SOA)

-          Experience Supporting application development and support of Triggers, Stored Procedures (external, COBOL, C, Java), SQL Stored Procedures

-          Experience with supporting Vendor delivered DB2 applications

·         Other knowledge or experience

-          Data Warehouse Databases

-          Experience with Universal Tablespaces

-          working with and managing MQT(Materialized Query Tables)

Develop and administer Operational, OLTP and Analytical data structures including logical and physical design

Optimize DB2 resource utilization by tuning queries (static and dynamic), making appropriate index recommendations and configuration parameter changes

Provide data migration support

Provide on-call rotational 24/7 Incident Response to database issues from production monitoring tools, Command Center personnel and Application Development Analysts

Maintain data integrity within the production environment including the execution of proper backup and restoration policies and procedures which provide point-in-time restore capabilities

Deploy database changes in strict accordance with change management policies and procedures.

Work closely with Application development teams for Database design, object creation and modification, scheduled releases, query performance, backup, recovery, and utility usage.

Interact and coordinate work with System Administrators, Project Managers, and fellow team members to support various project requests
