Product Development Engineer – Heat Exchanger
 
An individual with accountability, technical expertise and an ability to handle numerous and varying engineering tasks is required to join the Powertrain Cooling Heat Exchanger product development team in the North American offices of our client to deliver new and current business in the Americas region.
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead the heat exchanger product development pursuit and forward model applications
  • Review & interpret customer engineering specifications and asses our client's HEX products against requirements
  • Develop/Manage/Sign-Off designs, bills-of-material, CAD models, 2D drawing as required for pursuit and forward model applications
  • Conduct Technical Design Reviews and obtain global sign-off as required
  • Work with global materials, planning, purchasing and mfg activities to support quote process
  • Determine & conduct required developmental testing support pursuit process
  • Assess testing results and develop corrective actions
  • Provide direction to CAD, CAE, and test personnel as required
  • Use CAD/FEA/Advanced Design tools to substantiate design concepts
  • Manage & deliver prototypes as necessary to support pursuit & forward model programs
  • Provide direction to suppliers as required
  • Interface with the customer as required
 
YEARS EXPERIENCE:
  • At least five years of experience in heat exchanger or similar engineering
 
DEGREE STRONGLY PREFERRED:
  • BS/MS Mechanical Engineering or similar
 
DESIRED COMPETENCIES/EXPERIENCE:
  • Familiarity with a full range of automotive heat exchanger products, customers and their respective engineering specifications.
  • Background in heat transfer and structural principles
  • Understanding of CFD and CAE/FEA and how to interpret
  • Understanding of Injection Molding principles
  • Understanding of NVH principles
  • Ability to multitask and manage several projects and assignments simultaneously
  • High sense of urgency and commitment to meeting deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and drive to full sign-off
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills both written and verbal
