Job Summary:
The chosen candidate will be responsible for performing various development and support tasks related primarily to Microsoft SQL Server but occasionally in Postgres. :
- Maintenance of existing database processes and structures.
- Development of database objects to support assigned tasks.
- Development of enhancements to address identified deficiencies.
- Development of QA procedures to verify validity of modifications to current processes.
- Implementation and support of approved modifications.
Responsibilities- Participate in requirements gathering and assist in translating needs into technical specifications on all assigned projects.
- Work collaboratively with data services team to analysis project requirements and prepare necessary estimates of work.
- Develop documentation in support of any assignments including change requests, design documents, system and data flow diagrams, data models and any necessary instruction on how to execute and/or maintain developed processes and reporting.
- Maintain and modify requested processes, projects and reports, including any supporting objects such as tables and stored procedures.
- Develop QA processes for self and others to use to test and verify own deliverables.
- Work collaboratively with business users to gain acceptance/approval of all code related modifications.
- Work as part of a team to ensure a consistent flow of information technology products and services.
- Performs additional related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or 5 years equivalent work experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in the following required areas of the Microsoft SQL Server 2008:
- T-SQL Development
- Database Architecture
- Familiar with best practices in data warehouse design and development
- SSIS
- SSRS
- Demonstrate familiarity with both medical and pharmacy claims data, as well as health plan eligibility data.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
- Must be self-directed and able to function both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrate advanced critical thinking and trouble-shooting capabilities to assess, prioritize, plan, and implement tasks and solutions effectively, including the ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
- Must be able to work in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
- Additional valued skills:
- Development in SQL Server 2012.
- Development and/or administration of PostgreSQL.
- Development and/or administration of SharePoint.
