Summary
This position requires a blend of IT Business and Data Analyst professional skills. This resource will work with developers, technical resources and business resources to gather information to provide required data for Project Management and/or process improvement. This resource will prepare documentation for projects, process improvement or changes. The business analyst manages the creation of deliverables and may communicate/present findings and requirements to a large range of stakeholders, including Operations, Development, Testing, and other teams as necessary. The business analyst will act as liaison to and subject matter expert between Development Solutions, Service Delivery, Sales Teams and PMO. This person may be responsible for creating vision and product process flow/roadmap from inception to delivery/implementation. Crucial member in the development lifecycle from discovery to implementation as they work with project team members to define and clarify requirements, design the functional solution, identify and resolve project issues, and ensure the solution meets the intended goals.
 
Responsibilities
  • Work with subject matter experts to drive more detail for business process model 
  • Construct a business process model (e.g., a data flow diagram, activity diagram, or a component diagram with data flow connections) depicting a high-level overview of the business process to be supported by the system 
  • Produce sequence diagrams for the identified use cases 
  • Define high level service requirements 
  • Collaborate with QA in creating test plans and business scripts for the identified process flows 
  • Participate in appropriate service design reviews 
  • Performs gap analysis on solutions, service or processes
  • Interviews users.
  • Analyzes process flows.
  • Maps/flowcharts existing business processes.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Maps/flowcharts improvements to existing business/project and development processes
  • Documents existing business, project, development, sales and support processes
  • Designs & implements reports to improve processes & workflow.
  • Design and or perform KPI reporting
Qualifications
·         Communication skills: By nature of the job, business analysts spend a great deal of time interacting with users, clients, management and developers. A project’s success depend upon the business analyst clearly communicating details like project requirements, requested changes and testing results. Articulate language skills and outstanding written communication abilities are absolutely necessary to thrive in
·         Technical Skills: In order to successfully identify business solutions, a business analyst needs to know what information technology applications are being utilized, what new possible outcomes can be achieved through current platforms and what the latest technology offers. Testing software and designing business systems are also important technical business analyst skills. Gaining respect and creating a sense of confidence among IT and business end-users requires a business analyst to speak with authority the dual languages of business and technology, and to demonstrate a strong technical aptitude
·         Analytical skills: business analyst’s skill set must include analytical skills so that a customer’s business needs are properly interpreted and translated into business, technical and operational requirements.  A major aspect of the job is analyzing data, documents, user inputs and workflows
·         Negotiation skills: a business analyst serves as a liaison between developers and users, clients and companies, and management and IT. Finding the balance between individual wants and business needs, and then interacting with a variety of personality types toward a solution that works for the business, requires persuasion skills. When competing for client projects, a business analyst’s negotiation skills come into frequent use, with the goal of achieving a profitable outcome for the company and a working solution for the client. Maintaining relationships within an organization and with external partners is an important function of a business analyst, requiring strong negotiation and persuasion skills.
·         Ability to effectively present information to peers, clients, vendors, and top management.
·         Ability to deal with abstract and concrete variables and concepts.
·         Possess proficient skills in Microsoft Office including;
o    Microsoft Excel
o    Microsoft Access
o    Microsoft Word
o    Microsoft Project
o    Microsoft Power Point
o    Microsoft Outlook
·         A strong technical background is a significant plus
·         SQL knowledge, .NET or Ruby on Rails knowledge is a plus
 
Additional Requirements:
  • 3 years’ experience
  • Knowledge of Scrum Methodology and/or other project management processes
  • SDLC knowledge a plus but not required
  • Stage Gate process knowledge a plus but not required
  • Four-year undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in health services administration, management information systems, or business administration is generally preferred.
