Job description:
The network engineer provides required tasks to successfully install a network internally or in a customers’ environment. For customer installations, provides high-level support in a pre, current or post sales installation environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of seven years of experience in network engineering or related field; or
• Ability to travel up to 60%
• Customer implementation experience
• LAN/WAN network systems experience
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Responsible for designing and implementing network projects. Will be responsible for leading and overseeing a team of engineers assisting with these projects.
2. Installs current network operating system on new or existing network devices and/or installs communication equipment including routers, switches and firewalls.
3. Installs software on networking devices.
4. Provides phone support to employees or customers relative to networking technology.
5. Analyzes network topologies to determine potential issues and makes suggestions for recommended changes.
6. Assists with the preparation of network assessments and certifications.
Additional essential functions for network installations at a customer site:
• Installs current network operating server software on new or existing server-class hardware and/or installs communication equipment including routers, terminal servers, switches and firewalls.
• Installs supporting applications and peripherals on the above mentioned servers including tape backup hardware and software, email software, anti-virus software, etc. and/or implement technologies.
• Installs user workstation hardware, operating software and various application software and/or pre-configured equipment.
• Configures user IDs and customer-specific settings on servers and transfers data from the old environment to the new environment.
• Corresponds with customer and other divisions within the company to insure all customer concerns and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
• Assists Sales by analyzing customer requirements and recommending appropriate products and services.
• Prepares statements of work relative to upcoming network installations and general preparations for installations.
Proven experience and understanding with implementing and supporting SAN storage devices. We implement and support Dell SAN storage devices so experience with these would be a big plus.
• Demonstrated experience and understanding with designing and implementing virtual environments using VMware 4.x or newer.
• A minimum two years of experience in network server implementation, administration, support and server IT infrastructure solutions. We implement and support Dell servers so experience with these would be a big plus.
• Project management and project leadership experience with leading network server implementations.
• Strong communication and customer service skills are imperative.
These positions can still be located anywhere and the travel is 40-60%
